In her petition, Nashima stated that her daughter has been missing since February 14, when she had gone to offer evening prayers at a nearby mosque in Satbari village.
Nashima said Mehrauli police have failed to trace the girl and did not provide any information on the status of the case even after she provided them all details on her missing daughter.
Hearing her case, a Division Bench of Justices Vikramjit Sen and V K Shali said, "No information is forthcoming as to the latest position (of the missing girl's case). Summoning the SHO would not serve any purpose. Accordingly, we request DCP (South) to be personally present on July 29, the next date of hearing."
Nashima told the court that a few days after her daughter went missing, she received a telephone call from someone claiming that he was the uncle of one Liyaqat and the girl was in Liyaqat's custody.
The caller had also offered Rs 1.5 lakh and asked her to forget about her daughter, Nashima said, adding that the details were provided to the head constable and the SHO of Mehrauli police station, who are yet to trace the girl and provide information on the status of the case.
