New Delhi, February 7 The South Delhi Police have arrested a 32-year-old woman and rescued a two-year-old boy whom she had allegedly kidnapped four months ago. Officers said that the accused, Anjali, was arrested from Virar, Mumbai, where she was living with her husband, Shibunandi and the boy, Mohit.

“Anjali had kidnapped the boy because she was medically incapable of having a child,” said Anil Shukla, DCP, South.

The police said that on October 23, 2007, one Rajbir Singh, a tailor based in Chittaranjan Park, complained to the police that his son was kidnapped from his shop at E-39, Greater Kailash-II. Police said that he had also said that Anjali used to regularly visit his shop for stitching clothes for the last five to six months.

Police said that Anjali was playing with Mohit on the fateful day. Police officers said that Singh was busy attending the customers and did not notice that his son was missing. After sometime, realising that his son was missing, Singh raised an alarm, added the police.

“Teams were sent to Anjali’s hometown in Nadia in West Bengal where her brother was traced. After interrogating him, teams were sent to Mumbai and Pune. They finally traced she was at Virar in Mumbai,” said a senior police officer.
