According to the police, the youths had fired gunshots to threaten Gurtej, with whom they had an old enmity.
The police have sounded a red alert in the city and have registered case against Gurpreet Singh, Nindi and two unidentified accomplices on the complaint of Gurtej Singh.
The incident occurred around 10 am when the youth came in a Honda City car. At first, they fired two bullets from a 12-bore rifle in the main market. Later, they went to the mini market and fired two more gunshots.
The police have sounded a red alert in the city to nab the culprits. A party from the Sarabha Nagar police station reached the spot to investigate the matter. Later, SP (Detective) Gurpreet Singh Toor also reached on the spot to take a stock of situation.
Later, the police party recorded the statement of Gurtej and registered a case against the accused.
Talking to Newsline, SP Toor said, "An old enmity between the parties is the cause of the incident. We have booked these youths. Though our team tried to nab them, they managed to give them a slip near Morinda. We have alerted the police of the adjoining districts."
SP Toor further said, "No body will be allowed to take law in his hands. We will sternly deal with such elements that put the lives of others at risk by resorting to such acts. We have got the registration number of the car of these youths and we hope to nab them soon."
