Rajesh Shukla (40) allegedly committed suicide by setting himself on fire at his Krishna Lok Colony residence in Lucknow on Saturday. His wife Mithlesh attempted suicide by swallowing sedative pills. The incident took place when the couple was alone at their home as their son Piyush Shukla, a student of Class IX, had gone to a friend’s house. Sarojini Nagar police station in-charge Abhishek Sirohi said Shukla had committed suicide after pouring kerosene on himself. A class IV employee, Shukla was an alcoholic and this reportedly led to quarrels between the couple. Before the incident also, the couple had a fight, said a neighbour.
