Singh was interacting with mediapersons at GMN College in Ambala Cantonment today. The Finance Minister stated that more provisions would be made to strengthen the physical infrastructure for social service sector, health and education would be incorporated in the state annual budget. He said that in the proposed allocation of funds, more than 48 per cent would tentatively be allocated for health and education while 36 per cent would be spent on strengthening the power and irrigation vis-a-vis agriculture.
Singh claimed that at 10.8 per cent Haryana was at the top in the field of development against the national mark of 8.4 per cent. He further claimed that the state had achieved targets of 2010-11 in the year 2007-08 as laid down in the 12 Finance Commission Report.
He added that Haryana has been allocated funds valued at Rs 6,650 crore in the annual plan of the Planning Commission, which was more than allocated to Punjab. He said that it was a big leap for the first time in the history of fiscal management of Haryana.
Loaning facilities have been extended to farmers in the state and they would now get loans on easy terms, the finance minister added. Commenting on the annual budget today, Birender Singh said that it was a historic day for farmers because it would boost agriculture as a profitable occupation. Farmers would again get loans from banks to become participants in country’s development.
