The child's body was found from a sewer at Lalpar village in Morbi taluka of Rajkot district on Friday. He was identified as Arif Sayeed, son of Safiq Sayeed, who works as a labourer with Oracle Ceramic in Himmatnagar.

Preliminary investigation revealed that Arif was strangled to death by two accused-Dilip Hussain and Sandeep Yadav, who hail from UP, and was then thrown into the sewer. Sayeed had registered a complaint with the police saying his son was missing for more than a day. The police said Hussain worked with Sayeed at Oracle Ceramics, whereas Yadav was Hussain's friend who worked with Coral Ceramics at Morbi.

Both have been arrested under Section 365, 120(b) and 302 of the Indian Penal Code pertaining to kidnapping, murder and criminal conspiracy.

The duo revealed that they kidnapped Arif on Thursday promising him a chocolate. Yadav had come to Himmatnagar to execute the plan. Then they retuned to Lalpar village, where they killed the kid. Police said that Hussain had made an indecent proposal to Arif's mother, who had turned it down.
