Lucknow In a daring attack, two under-trials were killed by three unidentified gunmen in the district court premises in Hathras on Saturday, triggering an encounter with police which shot dead the trio.

"The incident took place when two jail inmates accused of rape and murder were being produced in the district court," Superintendent of Police J P Singh said.

"Three unidentified gunmen started firing indiscriminately on the jail inmates, but the alert policemen gunned down the three after a brief encounter," he said.

Singh said investigations are going on and prima facie it seems that old enmity could be a possible reason for the incident. "Efforts are on to ascertain the identity of those killed," he said.

District Court Gunfight by ram on 22 Feb 2009

HAHAHA a realtime cowboy town still exists in this world and only in UP. Westerners - cowboys of the past can view life performance in UP in the 21st century. The Police should hire gunslingers as Sherrifs/Marshals for UP town.s
