An estimated 68 per cent polling was recorded in the remaining 51 of the 90 Assembly constituencies and it might go little higher, Deputy Election Commissioner Jaiprakash said in New Delhi. "The polling was peaceful and there was brisk polling right from the morning,” he said.
People in five polling stations observed boycott citing lack of development and non-fulfillment of poll promises, he said.
The Commission also directed the state's Chief Electoral Officer to file a case against Chief Minister W Raman Singh for campaigning during the prohibited period on a FM channel in Raipur, he said, adding that directions have also been issued to issue notices to the network concerned.
An FIR has been filed by one Gyanendra Upadhyaya for an incident of stoning at the car of Congress leader Ajit Jogi, Jayaprakash said. To a question, Jaiprakash also said that the Election Commission was verifying a complaint about Jogi's name figuring at two places in the state.
The incident involving Jogi, the 61-year-old wheelchair-bound Congress leader, who is contesting from Marwahi Assembly constituency which went to polls, happened when he was visiting a poll booth in Girwar, Subodh Singh, district electoral officer (DEO), Bilaspur said.
A 55 per cent turnout was registered in the violence marred first phase of elections on Nov 14 for the 39 constituencies in which a flight engineer of IAF and a CRPF personnel were killed.

Every gentleman who has replied to my comment has acted at the spur of the moment and emotionally. These are no my ideas, these are the ideas of leading Indian journalists. Reread my comments, the bottom line is that the Indian and Pakistan Govts., can find a formula that can accommodate the 61 year old aspirations of the people of Kashmir. Look at how China has solved the probelem of Hong Kong. Fanatical and radical thinking by either Pakistanis or Indians, is not going to solve the problems.Religious hatred and narrow minded nationalism caused the partition of India and created Banglasesh also. No true religion teaches hatred and ill-will, destiny has brought the Muslims and Hindus together, with a bit of accommodation, compromise and give and take we can solve all the problems. Highly fanatical Hindu thinking of eventually inegrating Pakistan and Banglasesh with the India is going to cause more problems to millions of innocent people, same way the thinking of Pakistanis and Indians to antoganise each other and put the poor people of both Pakistan occupied and Indian occupied Kashmir in a miserable situation for the last six decades.Please understand and try to compromise and solve the problems amicably and build bridges of understanding in order to build a happy, peaceful and progressive Indian subcontinent. Forgive me , I do not mean to hurt anybody's feelings , by God my intentions are sincere and in the love of India my mother land. God knew best.
