Chennai, November 13: Police on Thursday arrested seven persons in connection with the group clash occurred at Dr Ambedkar Law College in Chennai on Wednesday, in which three students were seriously injured.

"ACP Narayanamurthy and inspector Sekar Babu have been suspended while four Sub-Inspectors have been transferred out of Chennai," Chennai police commissioner R Sekhar said.

The arrested students were remanded to custody, he said.

Meanwhile, the police have detained a few persons in connection with the burning of a bus here in the wee hours of Thursday. Opinion by Mohanraj on 26 Nov 2008

I've ever seen such an incident. All higher officials should be given even better or very strict actions for their foolish behaviour. In future this foolish things should not happen in our country.

strict action to be taken by Padma on 25 Nov 2008

Yes, its very sad and con't leave it this should be punished. Can we call them as animals? no they are something else. Police Please Please con't say anything more ACP should be dismissed and Govt. Should taken back in IPS. Very shame on you police guys.

strict action to be taken by Sarathy on 24 Nov 2008

The students involved in these activities should be punished in such a way that it should not be repeated again in any part of the state or country. This has shows there is no security for the studying students in the law college. College is for studying, if they are not doing this and indulging in the other activties which will disrupt the college environment they should be thrown out of the college irrespective of any caste.

students by raja on 20 Nov 2008

These students are not fit to be studying law. They should not have a chance to get away after doing such a heinous act. Every single one of them who had been part of the gang should be sentenced to long term imprisonment. Shame on all the policemen who were mere spectators.

Believe in Peace by Mohan on 18 Nov 2008

Hi All, I was reading all of your comments, and felt that the same degree of anger were their in your words as like of those law students, Think wise, there is law and we should abide, there is noway a complete solution available for everything, but there is one way that is to be in the state of peace and get things done with your knowledge, this is wat Dr. BR Ambedkar did, and got the real freedom for all dalitswe are in the modern era to prove something through our knowledge and not will war, master the art of educating people rather agitating them, if the government, law and the police wouldn't help you, then it is better to wait, if you try to proceed taking law in your hands, everyone will start making it as a caste driven world, never try that, Read books of Ambedkar on buddha, and you'll fall in peace and get enlightened.Everyone is a human being respect them, there are police officers very good than ur father Ignorance is the biggest crime - BuddhaLive with Peace

Every one should be punished by Vijayaraja on 16 Nov 2008

By using the video's as a strong evidence, everyone should be punish with rigorous imprisonment. Generally students fights are common in the colleges. But this is not by individual intention of the students who beats the victims. They done this with help of great community leaders support. "Every one should be punished"

Are they the real police by parthasarathy regupathy on 16 Nov 2008

Dont wanna talk abt the police and the government. They don't belong to the mankind i hope, but what about the public and media. The cameraman is having guts only to film the incident and the public having guts only to watch..

Attrocities against Dalits by niranjanbabu on 14 Nov 2008

Dalits have been consistently victims through out India. In the Chennai Law college Incidents the TV crew only video taped the retaliation nby Dalits students but what happened before to Dalits Students were suppressed. One need to think how come the TV crew was ready to make video , soit has been instigated by the vested interests. Jayalaitha has been a staunch supporter of one particular caste which has been defaming DR.AMbedkar whenever they get chance. So Humiliating Dalit's GOD Dr.Ambedkar was the main reason for these issue? If people who have mouth and pen to condemn these should ask them selves howe many times they have condemned the Attrocities against Dalits who have been raped; Killed ; humiliated. So this news spread itself a propagated vested interests plan to suppress DALITS by the caste ridden filthy Hindus for sure.Has any Dalit fed SH*T to a caste Hindu?Has Any Dalit humiliated any Caste Hindu's GOD?Has Any Dalit Raped the caste Hindu Ladies?think!

Are we dogs? by Shilbhadra on 24 Nov 2009

Whatever the so-called upper caste might have done to the so-called lower caste dalits(I personally think that we should do away with the name) cannot warrant the horrible violence that was witnessed at the Chennai Law College. When a dog bites us do we bite back? A detailed enquiry should be carried out and all involved should be severely reprimanded. The investigation should find out what led to the unprecedented violence and punish trouble-makers irrespective of which group they belong to.

7 arrested in connection with Chennai Law College clash by Krishna on 18 Nov 2008

What a non-sense argument in support of the heinous crime. What is the link between the present incident and what Niranjanbabu is writing here. People should learn to know the things instead of Chanting the same thing for all incidents.

with support to krishna by hkms on 25 Nov 2008

This is totally police people fault. One police can run and fall on that boy and cover him. Then surely that gang stopped beating. Even if they start hitting the police, then other polices should have taken the charge. If any one of the police's wife taken inside the law college by such gang, they will wait for principal's call. News telling politicians stopped police to take charge. It may be true, but police should have rescued that boy who got bad hit near the gate. this inability of police department. Whether they allow their wife to ____ by a gang, if a politician ordered them, not to take any action?. I think they will!!!!!!!!!

Law college unrest by Habeeb on 14 Nov 2008

Future defendants of law, taking law in their hand. It is shame for student community and blot on TN. Shocking video clips. They are not students mere barbarians. People should unequivocally condem the barbarism and the guilty should be given serious punishment by law to be an example to others.

arrogants punished severly by raj on 13 Nov 2008

as per my concern all the person who r involved in the events must be punished severly. all their certificates from schooling to college must be banned and they should not practice as a lawyer also. simply all of them should be in streets like a dog.

law college clash by sundaram on 13 Nov 2008

we have seen TN govt always inefficient to handle the law college students' clash. everybody presumes that govt. makes the police to keep silent. Why we need such a govt and such a police, who could have stopped this clash. After clash happens, what is the fun in visiting the hospital to see the victims ? Inactive ministers. Lakhs of people in TN cursed the police, govt and minister who are responsible for all these. we need a stronger govt who can handle such issues. Not this useless people.

Law college incident by Lakshmi Kanth on 14 Nov 2008

The persons who are involved in the clash have been recorded in live video. They should be found and severly punished.
