7 students injured in accident

Kolkata Seven students appearing for the Madhyamik sustained injuries in an accident when they were returning from an examination centre in Hooghly district.

The incident occurred in Singur block’s Nasibpur village when the students — who sat for the exam at Hamikpur Tustucharan Uccha Vidyalay Singur — were returning in a Maruti van. It collided with a matador coming from the opposite direction.

All students of the Singur Madhusudan Uccha Vidyalaya, two among them are reported to have received serious injuries. While Suresh Kole was rushed to Calcutta Medical College and Hospital, Soumen Patra has been admitted to Serampore Walsh Hospital in Hooghly.

“We will extend all possible help to the students who are willing to appear in the examination,” said Partha Roy, Secretary of West Bengal Board of Secondary Education.
