A wild male tusker died in Katerniaghat Wildlife Sanctuary on Sunday. Under treatment for the last two days, the 70-year-old elephant died around 1.40 am. It had not eaten for the last few days and was unable to move after it fell down due to stiffness in its right hind leg. “We were informed of the elephant lying within our area two days ago. Since then, two veterinary doctors were treating him. Though there was slight improvement in its condition, it did not survive,” said R K Singh, Divisional Forest Officer of Katerniaghat. Around 50 bottles of glucose was also administered to the animal.
