72 doctors given degrees at DMC&H convocation

Ludhiana At the annual convocation of Dayanand Medical College and Hospital today, 72 medical graduates of the 2003 batch were given away degrees and prizes. The convocation was held at Dumra auditorium.

Dr S.S. Gill, Vice-Chancellor, Baba Farid University of Health Sciences, Faridkot, was the chief guest on the occasion. The convocation began with a welcome address by the Dean Academics, Dr S.C Chopra.

The principal, Dr Daljit Singh read out the annual report of the college and highlighted the achievements and progress made by its various departments, faculty and units in the last one year.

Appreciating the progress made by DMCH, Dr S.S Gill said that the institute, with its graduate, post-graduate and super-specialty programmes, is one of the most prestigious medical institutions of the state.

Sunil Kant Munjal, President of the DMCH Managing Society, congratulated the graduates and asked them to fulfill their duty with utmost dedication and within the limits of medical ethics. He exhorted the medical graduates to keep faith in their profession.

The Vice-Principal, Dr Jagdeep Whig administered the Hippocratic oath to the fresh graduates before presenting them their degrees. The gold medal for the best graduate was presented to Dr Sheenam Sharma, and the silver medal to Dr Shikha Madan.

The best all-rounder award went to Dr Harleen Kaur. The best intern award was given to Dr Surneet Kaur Hayer. The chief guest presented 67 prizes and 13 medals to the students of various batches who had excelled in various subjects. Medical Superintendent (MS) Dr Sandeep Puri proposed a vote of thanks to all the dignitaries.
