The 16 brands tested were Cosmic, Nissan, Eagle, Padmini, Prestige, Cello, Milton, Freelance, Mayur Cafe, Bluepast, Maxim, Premium, High Grade, Jaypee Stellar, Emel Lord and Gangzinda. The brands were tested on parameters of volume capacity, heat and coolness retention and leak test.
The brands that have been recommended are Cosmic (1000ml), Nissan Coffee (500ml) and Cello lifestyle (1000ml). The eight brands that have failed in any one of the key test parameters or achieved an overall low score total and were thus put in the ‘not recommended’ category are High Grade Vacuum Flask (500 ml), Mayur Cafe (1000ml), High Grade Vacuum Flask (1000 ml), Eagle Home Super Jupiter (1000 ml), Milton Elite (1000 ml), Cello Pluto (1000ml), Milton Thermostell (600 ml) and Jaypee Stellar (1000 ml).
Another issue raised by the magazine was that since there are no regulations laid down by the BIS with respect to steel vacuum flasks, and no authority to regulate their manufacture and sale, the manufacturers freely adopt any standard they deem fit.
