Mumbai After eight years of legal battle, Bollywood star Salman Khan will finally get Rs 25 lakh for his role in the film Chori Chori Chupke Chupke.

The movie, which had released in 2001, was allegedly funded by the underworld. The financer of the film, Bharat Shah, and producer Nazim Rizvi were arrested for their alleged links with the underworld. Khan filed an application in the court seeking the money due to him for playing the lead in the film.

The special MCOCA judge YD Shinde on Wednesday ordered the collector to give Khan Rs 25 lakh from the sales proceeds of the film Chori Chori Chupke Chupke.

On September 13, 1999, Khan got into an agreement with Rizvi according to which he was to be paid an amount of Rs 1.5 crore for the movie. However, after Rizvi’s arrest, the film was released through the court receiver and all the claims were to be settled by him. Profits made out of the film’s sale were to be deposited in the state treasury.

“Khan was paid only Rs 1.25 crore, while the major sum of Rs 25 lakhs was due,” said his lawyer Renuka Laxmeshwar.

Initially, Khan had moved an application before the MCOCA court, which had said his dues would be cleared in due course of time. When he failed to get his dues, Khan moved the Bombay High Court for his money and the issue was referred back to the MCOCA court which finally settled the issue on Wednesday.
