New Delhi Eighty students of the Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalaya in Jaffarpur Kalan area of Southwest Delhi had to be hospitalised on Sunday morning after displaying symptoms of food poisoning.

The police said a few students of the residential school were admitted to the hospital after they complained of abdominal pain, uneasiness and nausea around 9.30 on Sunday after having the school breakfast. Most children were, however, discharged after being administered preliminary medication. A case of negligence has been registered against the school and the matter is under investigation.

School officials said all 450 students had consumed the usual meals on Saturday and Sunday. They said that though food poisoning had not been confirmed, seven students are still under observation at Rao Tula Ram Hospital. The school has ordered a probe.
