Kolkata, February 28 An eight-year-old girl was allegedly molested by the son of her school’s caretaker on Wednesday.

According to police, the incident occurred on the premises of Adi Mahakali Pathshala, a government girls’ school on Kailash Bose Street under the Amherst Street police station.

According to the complaint lodged by the victim’s parents, the incident took place during school hours when the girl, a Class II student, had gone to the toilet. It was at that time Sahadev Paswan molested her.

Sahadev, who is in his late teens, was later arrested. He has been charged under Section 509 of the IPC, which covers any “word, gesture or act intended to insult the modesty of a woman”, said Dulal Ghosh, officer-in-charge (OC) of Amherst Street Police Station.

Three others have been detained for questioning, the OC added.

Following the incident, angry parents gathered outside the school in the morning. According to eyewitnesses, a tussle got sparked off on whether to allow media coverage of the issue.

The mob tried to prevent the media from entering the school, which led to an altercation in which a woman reporter reportedly slapped a parent. No serious injuries were reported, police said.

Ghosh said that the girl has been taken to NRS Hospital for medical tests.

“If the police hadn’t arrived, the parents would have probably lynched the suspects. Surprisingly, she didn’t tell any of her teachers what had happened. Although her classes get over at 9.50 am, her mother came to pick her up at only 12.30 pm. Till then, she was playing in the school. She didn’t display any signs of distress or trauma at that time,” said Bandana Banerjee, a primary section teacher.

One must make sure it is a genuine case and not a fake case. If it is genuiine case award death sentence to guilty but if it is a fake case award HEAVY PUNISHMENT to parents for filing fake case using daughter for money extortion from school.There is a lot of abuse of laws made for women. For example there is 98% misuse of dowry law (498a) made to help women victims. These are records from criminal courts in india after 10 years of investigation where the guy has lost his jobs and livelyhood and kept running in courts for this long to prove their innocence.Spend 5 minutes to understand these laws and how they are increasingly misused which is causing problems to real victims of abuse and innocent people alike.please visit 498a.org and saveindianfamily.orgThanks,Rajesh
