Los Angeles Oscar-winner A R Rahman's victorious run at awards ceremonies continues with the music maestro now fetching two nominations at the 2010 Grammy Awards for his soundtracks from 'Slumdog Millionaire'.

The track 'Jai Ho' which got Rahman two Academy awards and a Golden Globe, has been nominated in the category of 'Best Song written for Motion Picture, Television or Other visual media'.

Rahman has also been nominated in the category of 'Best Compilation Soundtrack Album for Motion Picture, Television or Other visual Media' for 'Slumdog Millionaire'.

Incidentally, this is the first time that the 44-year-old Indian musician has been nominated for the Grammys', popularly known as the Oscars of the music industry.

The song 'Jai Ho' written by Gulzar for the 2008 film will face-off with Bruce Springsteen's title track for 'The Wrestler', 'Once in a Lifetime' from film 'Cadillac Records', 'Decode' from 'Twilight' and 'The Client' from 'Hannah Montana: The Movie'.

The album which had earlier knocked-off Lady GaGa's 'The Fame' on Billboards chart will now compete with the soundtracks of Quentin Tarantino's 'Inglourious Basterds', Beyonce starrer 'Cadillac Records', HBO's vampire series 'True Blood' and Robert Pattinson starrer Vampire-romance 'Twilight'.

The Grammy awards will be presented on January 31st at the Staples Centre in Los Angeles.

rather not give a second look...this is the 'mulla' of the extreme right but of the Hindu terrorist kind. An Indian given nominations for excellence in his field must be appreciated...perhaps it's coz the receipient is Muslim that the Hindu Mulla took a pot shot...at the other religions as well. This is what you all are...Hindu bigots

Cheap Sham by JC Mulla on 03 Dec 2009

Cheapness of awards is exposed. AR Rahman is a musician without any merit, originality. It is all propaganda and media work along with political string work. For exapmle, everyone knows Nobel Prizes are a sham. One should not give a damn to such cheap awards of Christians who themselves are cheap copy of Judaism.

I don't know why people like you exist. Is your sole purpose of existence to write comments like this? AR is undoubtedly a legend who has proved his talents to a world audience. He has millions of fans and the world is noticing it. Probably you shake your disdain figure to his e tunes. Go back to your room and play with the toys mommy gave you.

AR deserves grammy, as he is a global player now..best of luck to the best composer of the world.
