Mumbai attack

Karachi Adding to flip-flops over the Mumbai attacks, Pakistan's Navy Chief retracted his statement that Ajmal Amir Kasab did not take the sea route and said he backed Interior Ministry's report that nine terrorists had sailed from Karachi to launch the strikes.

Admiral Noman Bashir, who had on Friday contended that the Navy had no evidence to prove that Kasab took the sea route, said he was not contradicting Interior Ministry's report on the Mumbai attacks.

"We have not been directly involved in the investigation, which is under the domain of the Interior Ministry. Therefore they are better equipped, they have better knowledge and information," he said.

Interior Ministry Chief Rehman Malik had admitted on Feb 12, when Pakistan gave its response to Indian dossier, that the Mumbai attacks were ‘partly’ plotted on Pakistan soil and launched from its shores for which it has arrested six persons. Malik had said nine terrorists had travelled in three boats from Karachi to Mumbai.

"We have no contradictory opinion on the report prepared by them. Whatever evidence they have is correct. I won't contradict it," Admiral Bashir said.

"I had said (yesterday) that as Pakistan Navy chief I do not have any evidence. This does not imply that the Ministry of Interior (also) has no evidence," the Navy Chief said.

Admiral Bashir's remarks on Friday were rebuffed by India which said that this was part of ‘prevarications’ by Pakistan.

Asked about Bashir's contention, Home Minister P Chidambaram said in New Delhi, "I am sure somebody will deny it tomorrow. This is part of prevarications".

God help India.....!!! by Indian on 01 Mar 2009

Fact is we shouldn't be bothered about any flip-flops from the Pak side! Ever hear of any dirty criminal mastermind admitting to his/her wrongdoing? What are we trying to do here? Pointing out to Pak duplicity seems to have become an end in itself to our meek and childish conduct of foreign policy........I say reply to Pakistan in a language they understand and that is........sheer realpolitik....and leveraging of all the strength we as a nation can bear upon them! This pointing of fingers at the Pakis and plaintively saying they are indulging in flip-flops isn't going to get us anywhere.Or is it vote bank compulsions? If so then it is clear the Pakis have sized us up and know we will do them no harm, whatever the provocation! God help India from her stupid politicians.

A day after, Pak Navy Chief says, India’s proof correct by Harish on 01 Mar 2009

It is hardly comes as a surprise that the Paki Navy Chief has changed his position.During the whole sorry saga we have seen various positions adopted by the Pakistan government. This is a an attempt to pasify its people. As Pakistan is aware that for first time the Pakistan Government is being watched by the world and are taking by grain of salt what they say that one can expect number of flip flops.People of india have ben very patient with their government knowing that they have to be very careful in the action they take and also they are tired of the frequent invasion by the terrorists that Pakistan trains and harbours

Another Denial - Pak Navy Chief by Khader Mohiuddin on 01 Mar 2009

Previously he had instructions from Talibans to deny that and now Pakistan Govt might be re-instructed by Western Powers or weight of proof compelled Pakistan's Govt re-instructed Navy Chief to retract earlier statement.Wow, is Pakistan Government run by bunch of jokers.........team of comedy stars.Let's wait and watch for next joke from Pakistan.

Pak Navy Chief -the day after by Dr. Paras Deo on 01 Mar 2009

It's clear that the Pakistani murderers of 26/11 came by sea and their journey started from the maritime waters of Pakistan. It’s very difficult for me to understand that the Pakistani Naval chief has not been briefed by the other Pakistani authorities. But these Pakistanis are so tuned to the denial mode that their first reflex is to deny anything ....or his place in the hierarchy is so low that he nothing better to do to than to be the subservient of the other Pakistani armed forces. Apart from that he is surrounded by nitwits who have given him no briefings since ....lets's say 30.Nov.2008.?! Well then its time for him to go.

The fact of the matter is........... by Nitin B Vora on 28 Feb 2009

This are the people, the US finances and talks of putting an end to terrorism.

Courageous admission by romesh.sharma on 28 Feb 2009

Is the Pakistani Navy Chief still in job?If yes how long!!!It will be a wonder in Pak history.

Pakistan Navy chief's comments by Sanjana on 28 Feb 2009

This proves very clearly how illogical are the people heading Pakistan are - somethign that Pakistanis sepcially and the resto of the world mainly India need to take note off. They could have lies at the tip of their tongues and has no remorse to even keep changing stories just at a snap. How true is the saying that to cover up one lie a Million Lies need to be told to a point they do not have track of what all lies have been told. And all these lies are told to eyewash local pakistanis into believing a big fat lie just to keep their seat of power and encourage, instigate and sponser terrorism across the globe at the stake of the local Pakistanis and every thing in the name of Islam.

Hahahaha by P Dalvi on 28 Feb 2009

More Paki flipflops... this just makes them appear stoopid... but then again, it's possible the side effects of the "afghan special" that the Paki Naval Chief has obviously been smoking
