Aandrita wins the double crown

Kolkata, March 30 Aandrita Deb got the double crown getting the Singles Under-16 and the Doubles Under-16 crown. Srijita Ghosh was denied a double crown by Aandrita Deb who stopped her from winning the Girls’ Singles Under-16 titles at the AITA Talent Series tennis championship being sponsored by infocus Technologies being played on the grass courts of the High Court Club.

Top seed Srijita made short work of fourth seed Haryana girl Victoria Chahal 6-1, 6-0. In the finals of the Girls’ singles under-16 sixth seed Aandrita Deb toppled top seed Srijita Ghosh 6-1, 6-2. Aandrita partnering Andrea Das won over the Banerjee sisters, Adrita and Ahana to clinch the doubles crown. Eighth seed Md. Kamran Ali got the better of the second seeded Ishaque Eqbal to lift the Boys’ Singles under-12 title, though not without a fight. Kamran prevailed 7-5, 7-5. In the Boys’ Singles Under 16 top seed Sanjib Regius Kerketta did not break sweat to in winning the event defeating second seed Md. Azhar 6-2, 6-2.

Results: Boys’ Singles Under 12: Md. Kamran Ali beat Ishaque Eqbal 7-5,7-5.
Girls’ Singles Under 12: Srijita Ghosh beat Victoria Chahal 6-1,6-0. Boys’ Singles Under 16: Sanjib Regius Kerketta beat Md. Azhar 6-2, 6-2. Girls’ Singles Under16: Aandrita Deb beat Srijita Ghosh 6-1,6-2. Boys’ Doubles Under 12: Md. Shaharyar Salim & Ranjan Thakur beat Asim Akhtar & Shatanu Gupta 6-0, 6-0.
