According to Sharda, a resident of Lambyan village (Mohali), she went to the spot for nature call at around 7 am in the morning when she heard the child crying. She said that when she looked around the place, she found the newly born child lying in naked state, who was not even cleaned after his birth. She said that she immediately took the child to her house and informed the police.
The baby is in perfect good health and has been admitted to the Mohali Civil Hospital, where doctors and nurses of the hospital are taking good care of him.
The assistant sub-inspector of Phase VIII police station, Paramjit Singh, who is investigating the case, told Newsline that he took the child to the hospital where he was cleaned and covered with a sweater. He said the baby was 2.5kg in weight and was in perfect health. “The doctors who checked the baby, told me that the child was born at around 4 am in the morning and was abandoned only three hours ago, when he was found by Sharda,” said the ASI
Singh said the police were looking for the mother of the child. The police have been checking all the clinics and hospitals’ records to identify the mother of the abandoned child. He said that a case would be registered against the unknown mother who abandoned him.
