Participating in a discussion on the President’s address to Parliament, Advani struck a conciliatory note by congratulating Prime Minister Manmohan Singh and UPA chairperson Sonia Gandhi over the UPA election victory and assured them of his party’s cooperation. “Let the government do its duty and our party and NDA will do their duty,” he said.
Advani said the government should share with the House the evidence it had passed to Pakistan on the Mumbai terror strikes, especially in the wake of the release of Jamaat-ud-Dawa chief Hafiz Mohammad Saeed by the Lahore High Court on technical grounds. Advani said the demand was not against anyone in particular. It was intended to identify lapses, especially after the Prime Minister and National Security Advisor M K Narayanan had earlier cautioned that the next terror attack could come via the sea route.
“The 26/11 strike was not an ordinary terror attack as have taken place before... It was like an invasion of India, a kind of a war,” Advani said.
He disputed the findings of the Pradhan committee which was appointed by the Maharashtra government and, in its report, blamed the Centre for security lapses. He quoted the remarks of Vinita Kamte, wife of police officer Ashok Kamte who was killed in the attack, against the Pradhan committee.
“The Centre should set up a Commission of Inquiry to review the conclusions of Pradhan Committee... The country and Parliament should know what went wrong and where,” he said, adding that the US too had set up a commission to inquire into the 9/11 attack.
But Home Minister Chidambaram told reporters outside the House: “I am amused by that demand.” It is “surprising”, he said, that the issue had come up six months after the incident.
“I don’t think there is need for a Commission of Inquiry. We are not going to appoint it... We have all the facts. I have gone into all the records and we are quite clear on how it happened and I have shared it with the House.” He sought to know why hadn’t the NDA government appointed a Commission of Inquiry after the Kandahar hijacking incident or after the attack on Parliament House. “I don’t think that these kind of statements are going to help the situation,” he said.

Mr. Chaidambaram is acting like a philosopher. In fact enquiary commission was demanded immediately after the Mumbai attack. But nothing will happen and poor Hindus will receive hard kicks in future. This Hindu contry being looted by Muslims and and Christians for last 1200 yers and will continue life long.
let them make a commission for the attrocities committed by the indian state to the minorities since independance...and we want to see the ATR about the attacks on christians in orissa before we even think india as a modern civilized nation..
Its absolutely absurd that people make irrelevant personal commetns on people in thsi blog, rather than commenting on the issue. The issue is, whether or not it is appropriate to order an inquiry into the entire episode, from the security lapses, resulting in the entry of those murderers, to the manner of handling the problem, and causes of loss of life of the cops. Why would anyone not want to know the correct erasons of all this? Why would the Government shy of making an impartial inquiry into these events, not only to assess lapses in the entire episode, but also to address these issues to avoid recurrance of such lapses?This can only be done to cover up something. Also, it was reported that the Files pertaining to the Jackets is "missing" from the Police records. Now, what does this point towards? It is only clear, adn not much needs to be commented on the same.

We have seen in the past the work of enquiry commissions and action taken on their reports.In my view no enquiry commision must be set up.Let the government take steps at prevention of terrorist attacks in future.We must be action -oriented and must not waste time in producing reports which no body reads.

Commission is not welcome to ruling parties but important for the people at large. The 9/11 commission in the USA found many deficiences that were rectified later by legislators. We had repeated attacks and so far not a single enquiry and the ruling parties go scotch free and the people suffer repeated attacks. It is not enough for the government to know the facts - the people at large must understand what mistakes were made and how intelligence was mishandled or not acted upon. A comprehensive and open enquiry where possible and a closed room enquiry where necessary is needed and the results published outlining suggestions for improvements in all deficient areas. It is time people demand this enquiry and incorporate all the terrorist attacks on India.

In his reply our reverant Home Mister has said that if there was no probe panel in Kandhar and Parliament raid why it should be now.Whether he accepts it or not, his remarks imply that the Govt. headead by Dr. Manmohan Singh is following the same priciples as were followed by the Govt. headed by Atal Behari Bajpai. The Govt. of India Headed PM DR. Manohan Singh Has thought it fit to appoint a comission to inquire into 2002, six year old case, but the same Govt. headed by the same PM thinks that appointment of a commissios to inqire into a six month old case is not warranted.Our HM a highly learned man thinks that he can befool the simple men of India. Mr. Chidambaramhas ruled out probe into 26/11 disaster because six months have passed since the incident. How frail an selctive is his "memory". He did not object to the rigged up enquiry into the GUJERAT RIOTS WHICH TOOK PLACE FULL TWO YEARS AFTER THE EVENT. An Honourable former justice of the Supreme Court should have known that rules did not permit holding such an enquiry and yet he went ahead. The report of his illegal enuqiry has mercifully been blocked by the Supreme Court.Let Mr. Chidambaram use every legitimate mean to score political points. But for the sake of the sanity and the progress of the country (and GOD), he should avoid using trivial unsustainable objections.SHARMA

Bjp could have made mistakes but Chidambaram cannot do the same mistake. A serious Commission of Inquiry must be set up and those paying Chidambarams salary must get an answer. He cannot escape. 173 people including majority Indian citizens (rich and poor) died on that terrible day. Why did it happen? How did the terrorists reach the shores of Mumbai without anyone noticing? How did they amass the weapons in the hotel rooms? How did the Maharashtra government and the Central Government allow it in their watch? Why did it take three days for the Commandos to flush the terrorists out? What was done right and what was done wrong? These are valid questions that need to be answered. Pakistan has released the main culprit from jail knowing full well that as far as India is concerned they have nothing to fear. Even if the opposition looses power they still have to ask questions about the blunders of 26/11. What is Sonia trying to hide? Chidambaram bribed and won election this time - how can he be trusted to do anything right?

When this type of incident happened in Mumbia i mean the 26/11 I would like to asked Mr.Shiv Sena what have you done to voice for the people of mumbia.
