Advani didn't enthuse Hindus: RSS ideologue

NEW DELHI/NAGPUR In an indication of what lies ahead as the BJP grapples with its loss in the Lok Sabha elections, RSS ideologue M G Vaidya has slammed L K Advani for “not enthusing the Hindus” even as Advani, along with BJP president Rajnath Singh, met RSS chief Mohan Bhagwat, later saying he “had a long and productive discussion with Bhagwat about the election results”.

Writing in Marathi daily Tarun Bharat, Vaidya criticised the BJP, Advani in particular, for dissociating from the main party agenda — the issues of Ram temple, common civil code, Article 370 — which he said resulted in loss of credibility and the dismal show in the elections.

Vaidya sought the intervention of the RSS in bringing about a “complete” change in the BJP, calling it a “duty if the BJP is not able to take care of its organizational problems”.

“The BJP must reflect Hindu nationalism or else it is free to remain as any other party not associated with the Sangh... What’s wrong if people have gathered the impression that the BJP uses the Ram temple issue only for political gains?... The mainstream in this country is Hindu and the RSS is engaged in unifying Hindus. The BJP or any other owing allegiance to the Sangh must reflect this philosophy in its deeds.”

“A party MP from Bastar said Advani as PM candidate was one

of the reasons for the party’s defeat. The other details in his statement are wrong and irrelevant, but it is true that Advani was not enthusing the Hindus.”

He said the RSS executive had passed a resolution for restructuring of Jammu and Kashmir but Advani didn’t approve of it. “In the subsequent Assembly elections, only one BJP candidate won narrowly. All we wanted to say was if Muslim-dominated Kashmir thought Article 370 was essential, fine. But why impose it on Jammu and Ladakh when they didn’t want it?”

In New Delhi, Advani, after meeting Bhagwat, said: “I thanked the RSS for its help in the elections. The Sangh worked very hard.”

Former RSS spokesperson Ram Madhav said the RSS “didn’t interfere in the day-to-day functioning of the BJP but was concerned about the long-term plans of the party”.

“What the RSS expects from the party is that it take stock of the situation and take collective responsibility for building the party and its policies in future,” he said.

Meanwhile, BJP leader and Rajya Sabha member Pyarelal Khandelwal has written a letter to Rajnath Singh “questioning the succession plan being chalked out in the party”.

RSS by SVS Subrahmaniam on 08 Jun 2009

This is in reply to Ravi Varma who has criticised me.I am not saying anything on RSS. Let it preach and propagate Hindu religion. I am also a Hind and a Brahmin and I am proud of born like that. But taking this Hinduism as Hindutva the political ideology is not working properly. What ever said and done, it is giving to understand the cadre down the top brass of BJP and RSS, as anti Muslim, anti Christian and anti all against Hindu and they are procating and acting in that way. For a national political party BJP can not accept these things because it has to flourish and do come back to power again. Unless they leave this venomous Hindutva card and hard cores like Modi, become moderate and voter friendly it can not gain the confidence of the people. People are fed up with it. Their argument that in some states it is able do well does not withstand. If they are like that they loose those states also. It is for BJP to think. I have no thing to do with RSS.

We are all Indians by NRI on 04 Jun 2009

Can we for once remember that we are all Indians, children of the same motherland. Let us do what is best for our country and not divide ourselves along religious lines.

RSS is enemy of Hinduism by Jyoti on 03 Jun 2009

Hinduism is a religion of tolerance, intellectual logic and acceptance. RSS and its ilk have destroyed Hinduism. Even Lokmanya Tilak would be ashamed of its retrograde and foot in the pyre policies. BJP must dissociate with RSS if it wants to remain relavant in the modern India and the world.

BJP should not leave the core issue. This is what differs it from Congress. The uniforma civil code is must to realize all indians as on rather on line of religions. The law should be same for every one.

Hindus never learn by Abdul on 03 Jun 2009

Forget Its You can get vote on the bases of Islam but you get nothing on the bases of Hinduism.Hinduism is a religion of self decay process as the time passes neither Hindus want to fight for their religion nor they want anyone to fight for their religion.Just look into past.Islam rule ,British rule, destroying of temples in the past conversion.Neither Hindus learn from their past nor they will learn from the future.I am happy for Muslims and Christians that they are united and atleast fighting for their selfrespect and rights.

Dronacharya uvacha by Jayadevan on 03 Jun 2009

Guruji is correct. We should never forget that the BJP was almost extinct as a political force before Advani got the brainwave of using the Ram Mandir to unite (unkind people say "exploit") the Hindus. This got them the only chance they ever had to rule the country. If you recognize the simple fact that the only function of a political party is to come to power and to perpetuate the situation, you will appreciate the value the new Hindu identity had for the BJP. Who can forget the image of LKA standing in front of a militant Shri Ram, the Maryada Purushottam, protecting Hindu Gaurav from the Muslim invader? Who can forget Narendra Modi's landslide victory after Godhra polarized Gujarat like never before? And you still want to doubt and talk political ideas the mainstream media has sold you? Secularism and human rights are nice-sounding words, but they never won any votes. And we have umpteen isuues to keep on raising, one after the other, to keep the communal cauldron boiling.

Learn Lessons from defeat by Jose K Joseph on 03 Jun 2009

It appears the BJP Leadership is deeply divided over the causes of the election defeat. As usual the RSS lobby is using it as an excuse to regain total control over the party. They should realise that a vast majority of the Indians will not support the RSS ideology of Hindu Supermacy. The 20 plus percentage of the minorities will be always against a govt contriolled by RSS. Part of the split in the old Janata Party was over RSS role in the Govt. Many States in India have poweful regional Parties most of which had split from secular Parties like the Congress or Socialists. Leaders from a Congress, socialist or Communist Background can not support the Hindu supermacy ideology of the BJP. The sooner RSS Leaders and supporters realise this fact, the better for the party and the country. Let us also realise weakening the opposition is not in the interest of the country. unity within the BJP and among opposition Parties is vital to serve as a watch dog of our Democracy

Like all the other BJP Touts, I shamelessly tout BJP on all websites by BJP Tout on 03 Jun 2009

Wait 5 more years and BJP will be history. If you have still not figured out that crap (Hindutva/riots/370) doesn't sell, you will...after Congress wins 273 seats on its own in 2014.

Uniting the Hindus... by Kalyan Viswanathan on 03 Jun 2009

The problem with the notion of the Ram Mandir uniting Hindus - is that it divides and distances as many Hindus (Secularized as they may be) as it unites the more committed Hindus. We have to recognize that all Hindus are not equally enthused about the Ram Mandir. So the Ram Mandir is a divisive issue that cuts both ways. This is an existential dilemma for the Sangh and the BJP.

bjp by ram on 03 Jun 2009

The way BJP has done so far is not good enough to keep the country's overall benefit, at the same time they try to divide people of this great nation by religion. And what new idea BJP can put forward for future, nothing. The world is growing faster and faster towards modern technologies here in india because of BJP's hindvuta agenda we are stil in dispute whether to built temple or mosque.

Hindus of India unite! by Amit the cosmic chihuahua on 03 Jun 2009

The need of the hour is for Hindus of the country to unite and consolidate their strength by forming a single vote bank. That way they can vote en bloc for the BJP and give their patriotic Hindu leaders their divine right to enjoy the fruits of power. While voting, nationalism should be their only concern and they should not think about secular issues like corruption, poverty, education, lack of justice, shoddy policing etc. Instead they should unquestiongly vote for the BJP which will restore Hindu pride and officially declare Hindus the first class citizens in the country. This restoration of Hindu glory will be broadcast to far away towns and villages of India. Upon hearing this good news hungry malnourished unschooled children will forget their problems and dance with joy. Doordarshan will broadcast patriotic songs all day which will arouse nationalistic fervor amongst citizens. Thus overjoyed, we will return our patriotic leaders again and again to power.

RSS - the holy one! by Akash on 02 Jun 2009

Ravi Varma comments: "Nowhere, at no times, it became a threat to non-Hindus" Really? Which universe are you from? Why don't you read the book from that Hitler-worshipping, low-life maggot who your revered RSS calls guruji Madav Sadashiv Golwalkar?? In his book, he openly asks for non-Hindus in independent India to be treated as second class citizens. He goes on to urge hindus to unite and work towards racial

Advani did not enthuse Hindus by Govinda Rao on 02 Jun 2009

Yes.What is wrong to defend and protect our ancient culture of hinduism and Hindus who are majority in this nation but are subject to all injustice and their very survival threatened in our politics.Any organisation that talks about their rights

listen you communalist dreamers, by satya s on 02 Jun 2009

i must rank you lunatics amongst the UFO sighters, the "earth is flat" believers,ET sighters.Normal people unite on shared interests or shared values. its that simple regardless of relgiion, caste etc.get over your ignorance.there is no such thing as hindu unity or muslim unity or chritian unity.its a fantasy of madmen who have nothing to better to do in life.and the deluded, gullible supporters of the sangh are nothing but bigots, dumb and a public nuisance.that's how others see you. stop all this crap about "protecting hinduism". they are all self imagined nonsense. nothing to do with reality and hard facts.the reality if RSS and co are traitors who didn't particpate in the freedom struggle against the mighty british but launch rowdies upon weak christians.how pathetic and low you lot are!and your "icon" savarkar is a lowly traitor .

RSS - the Organization that stands for national Unity by Ravi Varma on 02 Jun 2009

For people like SVS Subbu, any ass other than Hindu's is sweet. Such are the misfortunes of India, inspite of identifying themselves with holy names. In 1942, while Gandhiji, attending a Shakha of RSS in Nagpur commented "more such organizations should come up to promote nationalism". The RSS has not deviated from its path of pure nationalism. Nowhere, at no times, it became a threat to non-Hindus. But, it is a fashion in India that those who put a safforn scarf around their neck or those who mark a dot with sindoor on their forehead are branded as RSS. If there is a communal violence, suddenly, it became RSS making. RSS never involve in communal violence. Violence is not the ideology of Sangh. Those who comment against RSS, please spend some time to know what it is. It is paining, when people of Hindu belief write against RSS out of ignorance but imagination.

hindu unty by N.S Parameswaran on 02 Jun 2009

The problem is there is no unity among hinuds. they do not think of themselves as hindus - they think of themselves as yadavs, kurmis, rajpurt, chettiars, bhumuhars etc and not as hindus. We unfortunately do no work as a single community.Everybody knows BJP is the only party which is pro-hindu. All other parties are anti-hindu but pro-some caste or the other.the foolish 'Hindus' identify with these caste based parties and vote for them inspite of the parties being anti-hindu.Hence we 'HINUDS" are destined to remain like this and keep loosing and loosing till we are wiped out

Hinduism facing threat in India from secularists by Thomas Varghese on 02 Jun 2009

Protecting Hinduism in India is considered a crime while promoting christianity is on the path of secularism. What policy is this ? Can anyone explain?

BJP and its right path by SVS Subrahmaniam on 02 Jun 2009

Even a fortnight has not passed after the humiliating defeat the BJP led NDA has faced, the true colours of the existence of BJP are once again surfacing out, The BJP is not a national alternative party but a political wing of a religious out fit, the RSS. As long as this link continues to exist the BJP can not make a viable alternative and can get power in future. The RSS at all times wants to impose the religious nature to the Indian politics and wish to make India a Hindu rashtra. It is dangerous to the present day India. Unless the clear cut Secularist fabric is infused in the Indian politics, no party in future will not come to power. The Indian voter is making up his mind towards it. He is vexed up with the venomous Hindutva preachings. As Mr. Shashi Tharoor said in an interview, the Parivar groups are unable to see the difference between Hindu religion and Hindutva politics, and are creating problems to the society. Now it is for BJP to introspect for correct direction!

RSS as a political party by Naveed on 02 Jun 2009

Why don't RSS forms it's own political party and enter into the fray? The sangh parivar could do better by entering into politics, Instead of sitting on the back of BJP and calling shots. The hindu organizations know well that they would bite the dust politically and hence use political parties to thrust their opinions and agendas on public. For sure the BJP will definitely do well in the elections if they leave their hindutva agenda and concentrate more on developments.

RSS by Vaid S C K on 02 Jun 2009

There is need to re-assess numerical majority of hindus in India. Though hindus may constitute more than 80% population, they are deeply divided by communities, customs and thoughts. Urban hindus and missionaries educated hindus have little common with rural hindus. Further, division is sharper when communities feelings come to play. RSS has, so far, not been able to evolve any strategy which could enthuse all hindus reprsenting different shades.Congress has effectively made use of this diversity to exploit for perpetuating their influence where as they have not been able to fulfull the aspirations of masses.

BJP - Go with RSS ideology. by DR.PETROL PUMP CHOR on 02 Jun 2009

The BJP should immediately come out from power centers. Advani did serious mistakes and injustice in his lust to become the PM, floating the approved ideology of parivar. Many of the front level leaders in BJP vie for power. There should be an immediate end of power struggle within BJP. Those who campaign for power should be disqualified to become a member of the Party or Sangh and to be lowered or ousted. Advani did many compromises; so was Vajpayee. It is time to change the present path of BJP and strictly start coming up as a cadre party with selfless leaders and cadres. Those who cannot do this work should be asked to leave the Party. The BJP should immediately end its allegiance with un-like minded parties, whether JD(U) or Akali Dal. Sharad Yadav took the fiddle to follow Nitish, which is an indication that they will end the NDA partnership when Bihar election comes. Let all the leaders be strictly with RSS ideology while others should be asked to get out.

100% true.. by raj on 02 Jun 2009

congress was openly worked for minority comunity by squeezing majority hindus...so every christian and muslim voted for congress ..and all hindu vote split in to 20 parties....if bjp followed same path then atleast 70% of hindus have voted to bjp...

RSS by Avinash Baranwal on 02 Jun 2009

RSS has still not learnt the lesson. It is absurd to see them thinking and talking(This has worst impact) about hindus only.Think about the nation and other core issues and not abt the hindus alone.

Dissolve NDA and BJP stand by own. Leaders should pledge to keep away from lust for Power. by Aniyan on 02 Jun 2009

This is perfect observation and assessment by Sangh. BJP's political Agenda is different than that of others, including the allies of NDA. There can be no common minimum programme for BJP except the one approved when it was created and the one in the lines of guideliness of Sangh. In this path, if the party is branded as communal, it should be shrugged off. Basically formation of NDA itself was wrong, putting the party within the clutches of so many DOs and DONTs. Sangh stands for nationalism, Hinduism and unit of India. When Hinduism is highlighted, that creates absolutely no threat or problem to other religions. They will be partners of nation building, with all regard. But, there should be a total ban on any kind of religious conversion and cow slaughtering. The minority communities must respect the sentiments of the majority community and vice versa. NDA should be disbanded immediately and BJP should end its alliance with JD(U) immediately with new guidelines to party members.
