Speaking on a slew of reforms in the state’s excise policy, including reduction in the number of liquor shops, Gehlot said: “We want to put a stop to the previous government’s promotion of liquor and are against this activity of boys and girls walking hand in hand in pubs and malls.”
With the remarks, beamed on TV, creating ripples all around, Gehlot’s office tonight issued a statement, saying it had been taken out of context. The CM, according to the statement, was only trying to elucidate the previous BJP government’s promotion of liquor in the state which had become a problem. Close to 6,000 liquor-related rapes were registered.

By this media hue and cry favouring pubs, dance bars and liquor consumption only one this is sure to happen,India will legitimise ethical prostitution and will develop as a principled brothel by 2020.That target will sure be acheived eventhough other target are not.
A GIRL IS THE FORM OF GRANDMOTHER,MOTHER,DAUGHTER,SISTER
At long last.......now no one will blame everything wrong in India on the "RSS".
What a topic! Every democratic person is swayed by the cries against these Ram Sena, as are called Talibans. But does any of those like to have their females drinking in pubs and on roadsides? If consumption of liquour is not bad, why do not people take it at their residence the way they take a Pizza with their children. If a man is not fool, why should he deliberately indulge in the activity that will make him a fool nay a mad, after he looses his senses once he intakes overdose of liquour? Why does Traffice Police stop drunken driving? Why is it an offence in taking liquour in Offices and work places? I do not recall the date and year when one of our retired Chief Justices' of Supreme Court said on Censor on films "Angular angularities should be stopped". Once these young girls resort to drinking in pubs, they resort to angular angularities, causing emmotional arousness and resulting in Jessica Lal like cases. This is the real time, we should restrian from pub drinking for peace .
I agree with sri Gehlot's statement. The culture of india is different with westren culture. But somehow some people wants to pollute with westren clure and spoil the moralities of the people. The main mistake of parents have to guid their children in a propre way the resposibilities and duties for what they are living. Mow-a-days some parents are also feel proud if their children are moving in such a westren culture and ignoring the after effects.y. naresh /vizag
Well done Mr. Gehlor. You are much better than recently turned secular Advani. It seems people have dicided to allow their daughters and sister to drink and dance nakedly in pubs.
Was Gehlot born without his parents walking hand in hand. Why does he want to take away the fun in people's life. Where is it harming anyone. His police it seems wants to do the easy work so that they don't have to do the really important and tough ones.
There has been some good work done by the CM in regulating liquor shop timings in the state. This has to some extent put curbs on rowdyism around these shops. But the CM should keep off peoples private lives. His views on culture would only encourage Shiv Sena and MNS kind of hooliganism, which is nothing but terrorism in the name of culture. The malls in the country are sources of employment to many also and have a legal sanction, which the government of the day is duty bound to protect. Such irresponsible statements will only encourage the hooligans of numerous sena's to attack and damage such establishments in the name of Taliban style interpretation of culture. The CM should concentrate on development of the state infrastructure to provide all round growth and not find faults in boys and girls moving together. This is strictly their personal and private life. In fact the state is duty bound to protect such boys and girls also.
a very hackneyed view, my dear. The Social construct / fabric of the country is a responsibility for one and all. We set examples by our actions. There can be nothing private in this domain. Probably, a deeper understanding is required. However, no one can force his views on another. And certainly, incidents like in Mangalore are shameful actions and punitive action needs to be taken against the perpetrators.
