Nine persons were arrested by Gujarat police on August 16 for their alleged involvement in the Ahmedabad blasts and they have allegedly disclosed that explosives used in the blasts were sent from Madhya Pradesh.
According to Gujarat police, Safdar Nagori, the SIMI Madhya Pradesh unit chief who was arrested along with 12 other on March 27, 2008 from Indore, had trained SIMI activists in Halol Jungle in the state. Nagori has been lodged in Reva jail.
After the arrest of the nine persons in Gujarat, the state police is looking for a few more suspects which included a person named "Ikrar".
The Gujarat police is suspecting involvement of the arrested persons in supplying explosives for the Ahmedabad bomb blasts. They are also suspecting them of stealing vehicles used in the operation.
Sources said soon after the arrival of Gujarat police in Madhya Pradesh, they visited Ujjain to know the details of the SIMI network and their operation strategies. The two-member police team may also visit to Malwa and Nimad areas, known as the base of SIMI.
They said Gujarat police may initiate steps to arrest Nagori "for comprehensive questioning" with regard to blasts at several places across the country including Ahmedabad.
