London Hollywood superstar Al Pacino will be honoured with a humanitarian award by a leading US arthritis charity for his contribution and support to the people suffering from the disease.

The Southern California Chapter of the Arthritis Foundation will present the 'Jane Wyman Humanitarian Award' to the movie star at the 22nd Commitment To A Cure Awards ceremony in Los Angeles later this month, Contactmusic reported.

"It is presented to individuals who exemplify the leadership, commitment and dedication to humanitarian causes that Ms Wyman herself demonstrated in the fight to find a cure for arthritis," Board chairman Mitchell A Jacobs said.

"Al Pacino has a history of charitable giving. We are very grateful for his support of the 46 million adults and children with arthritis, and are honoured that he will join us at the Commitment to a Cure Awards Gala," he added.

Oscar-winning actress Jane Wyman was the first wife of former US President Ronald Reagan.
