The Pakistani reaction followed a 'New York Times' report Tuesday that the Obama administration is considering proposals to expand air strikes into the province of Baluchistan to target al-Qaida and Taliban officials.
US intelligence officials believe some militant leaders have fled there to avoid the US drone attacks in the lawless tribal region to the north. The proposals are part of an ongoing larger review of US strategy in Pakistan and Afghanistan to counter terrorist organizations and help stabilise both countries, according to the Times.
“As far as we're concerned we do not think Taliban leadership or al-Qaida are present in Baluchistan or Quetta as some suggest,” said a Pakistan embassy official, who asked for anonymity to discuss the sensitive intelligence issue.
“If there is any evidence of Taliban or al-Qaida, we are available for intelligence sharing and we will take immediate action,” the official said.”
Pakistan has repeatedly objected to Predator drone strikes in the Federal Administered Tribal Areas along Pakistan's northwest frontier with Afghanistan, believed by US intelligence to be home to al-Qaida leaders.

Pakisthan is right. Alquida and taliban militants are not in Baluchisthan.they are actually in cities like Karachi, lahore, Hyderabad, Multhan, Peshawar etc staying in the hostels managed by ISI waiting for drone attacks to cease.,and playing carrom with our own Dawood and his aids.One wonders why this country churns out one lie after other which no one in the world believes
Dear americans and their president in particular, the excat whereabouts of terrorists, their planning, thier funding is very well known to the pak ISI and their army. If this war on terror has to be won then the americans and NATO will have to fight it out a total war with Pak army and its ISI, the citizens of pak are not to be blamed except some of their politicians. The building of terror groups in pak is their state policy for a very long period, earlier americans were ignoring this because it did not affect them directly , only others were suffering. Now american have started getting a taste of their act so they have now become active in combatting this menace, but still they want selective actions on terror groups so they want to keep ISI and pak army in confidence. The americans fail to understand that the only way to stop the menance of paki / talebani terrorism is terrorise them. Before a paki / talebani guy smuggles a nuke on a plane and drop it on NY, America should use the nuke on them. You can never trust paki, these guys will help load a plane full of nukes and send it to USA. This terrorism is all American creation. Now, more than India the threat is for America. If there is a war with India, Indian Army is ready to slaughter them free the Hindukush from the thugs. India is a economic power of the region and the American want to counter the development of India, hence all this nonsense of terror is spread. India was facing terror threat for years on. America only understood after 9/11.
Taliban and Al Qaeda are not in Baluchistan? Of course, they are not. Then where they could be? Obviously they are in Rawalpindi, Islamabad, Karachi, Lahore and other major towns. They are in the military, the ISI, the government bureaucracies, mosques, schools, colleges and everywhere! Some would be in the Presidential palace and some inSharif's farm-house!! Pakistan has fooled the U.S.A. from the latter's involvement in that part of the sub-continent. You see, any of the Taliban and Al Qaeda leaders must necessarily have an entourage and support staff to run their jihad. Holing up in a cave would be very impractical. And from over 7 years the U.S.A. and its allies have not been able to nab a single leader. It is blindingly clear that they are looking for them in the wrong places!! And they say they can read a car number plate from miles above in the sky!!!
The US must understand that the Afghans, read Talibans, have been fighting for their freedom, while the US force, in the guise of NATO, is a force of occupation. Ture, these Taliban people are directly against humanism. In the name of Islam. they practice some sort of death cult. But the US can never win a war with freedom fighters on the teritorrial plane. Only they can keep the Talibans engagged on a soil that is far from that of the US. Not very far away Israel has been fighting them with equal ferrocity. But could not yet win agaisnt them. At home, we too are engagged in cold war with them. But here, we have an ethical stand that Mr. Obama is yet to appreciate. It is because of our principled stand, that we give muslims equal right, if not more, but fight extremism, our country has been able to hold the ground even after 1300 hundred years. On the other hand, Pakistan and its theocracy is in danger. The US may take the cue from this.
