Kolkata, August 01 With unconfirmed news of controversial Bangladeshi author Taslima Nasreen wishing to return to India, the city-based All India Majlish-e-Shura on Friday said that it would never allow her to return to the country.

Aziz Mubarki, additional chief Shahi Imam, said: “We do not think that this issue needs to be raised again. It is final that none of us want Taslima to return to the country.”

The author had to flee the city after Muslim groups protested against her stay. She is currently in Sweden.

The group, meanwhile, has expressed concern over the spurt in terrorist attacks in the country. In the wake of the recent serial blasts in Bangalore and Ahmedabad, All India Majlis-e-Shura has sent a letter to the government demanding strong action against the “merchants of death and destruction” and security for mosques.

The letter, addressed to the Governor and the Prime Minister, condemned the blasts, describing them “acts of cowardice which can never be justified.” “Islam does not permit killing of innocent people. We condemn the terrorist acts which are being carried on in the name of “Indian Mujahideen” for they do not do good to mankind,” said Imam N R Barkati.

“We have demanded metal detectors and CCTVs so that religious places are safe,” Barkati added.
