"There is nothing wrong in demanding houses built by MHADA for Marathi people," Thackeray said in an editorial comment in Sena mouthpiece 'Saamana'.
"The 863 MHADA houses belong to the government. At least 80 per cent of these should be given to Marathis," he said.
Stating that the number of applications for the 863 houses would be around five lakh, a record, Thackeray said, "Where are Marathi people in this record?"
"Just because those who have been staying here for the last 15-20 years can apply in this 'lottery' (draw to finalise house allotment), the number of applicants can be five lakh," he said.

Maharashtrians need 80 % reservations in MHADA flats. People from other states come to Mumbai and can afford flats of 6 crores in HIRANANDANI ,RAHEJA AND OBEROR COMPLEX.Why then the non Marathis come and apply for MHADA flats?They are welcome but 80 % reservation must be made compulsoryWHAT ABOUT COLLEGES LIKE MITHIBAI,THADOMAL,JAIHIND?? they have GUJARATI SINDHI QUOTAS,IF YOU DONT WANT RESERVATION IN MHADA FOR MARATHIS then remove RESERVATIONS FOR SINDHIS PUNJABIS SOUTH INDIANS IN MUMBAI !!

One more suggestion.Let us introduce VISA process for interstate travels, May be various kinds of Visa, like Tourist, Business, Work permit etc.But only one condition , it should be applicale to all states, not just Maharastra.I wish Thakeray succeeds .
Guys ,how do you define a local ? Is SRK a local ? BTW Bala is asking reservation for Marathis and not locals...there could be a huge difference in the interpretation...let's not get into this divise and dirty politics ..it is not good for anyone.He is just aiming for the next state elections.Where was he when Mumbai was attacked ? Why is he worried about these petty issues when there are hundreds of bigger problems facing his dear Maharashtra like security issues, slumdogs,farmer suicide in Marathwada,incompetent police force,water clogging in Mumbai during monsoons to name just few of them...Why is he not concerned about them ? how do you define local? Look at your past generations and ask yourself this question. If they were local to some area, then that's definition of the local. I am a Bihari myself and I wish that Bihar had leaders like Raj and Bal who care about their states more than making money in Mumbai. Lets mend our state and our politician ala Amar, Lalu, Mulayam, Mayawati et al and only then can we judge other politicians. I am even ashamed of calling myself a north Indian. I wish I could be a Marathi or a Gujrati...

He is not saying that marathis should be given jobs and land in gujrat kerala andhra or any other state. he is being very reasonable by saying the local in the local land should be protected. Thats the whole concept of bhumiputras. He is not saying that no one else should come to Mumbai to work. He is just saying that when you come from outside respect the locals. And give them breathing space. He is not saying that Marathis should be given jobs in Railways in Bihar or Delhi.. There is nothing wrong in what Mahathir did. There is nothing wrong in protecting your own people. Why should the thakreys be pointed out? Doesnt this happen in other states? arent people from other states protected in their own states? Just because the Thakreys voice it out they become bad? If anyone thinks he is biased then why dont you go to your own state to find work? The Thackray clan sound like Mahathir now. In Malaysia everything is first priority for ethnic Malays. All others born of Chinese or Indian origin must pay at market rates. If you are aware of the facts, you could easily have seen in the news names like Karkare, Kamte, Salskar and so many others who actually fought these terrorists, even died doing so mainly because of poor gear. If the commandos are stationed in North, they will come from there, right? I do not know any one from other states ( no harm meant, I am only pursuing the point here)seem to have rushed to Mumbai other than these commandos and even for whom it took more than 3 days..........And by the way, were they not meant to do exactly such jobs?
