Dharamshala, January 4 After the party's debacle in the Vidhan Sabha elections, former transport and tourism minister Gurmukh Singh Bali, who remained in the thick of controversy, today said he was not in the race for the post of Pradesh Congress Committee (PCC) president. He advised his party leaders to work like party workers and for the people. Bali said the party's focus should be on the Lok Sabha polls scheduled for 2009.

Bali went a step forward ahead and also advised the BJP to fulfill the promises made by it to the people. When asked what led to the party's debacle, Bali said the Congress was unable to tell the people about the developmental work done by the government.

Over the issues of PCC chief's post, he said, "Neither I am lobbying for the post of PCC president nor in race for the leadership of CLP.''

Bali, who was talking to mediapersons here today, said the party high command would take a decision in this regard. "It is the prerogative of Sonia Gandhi and her decision will be acceptable to us,'' said Bali, adding that he was neither supporting nor opposing anyone.
