SP leader Amar Singh demanded a ban on Bajrang Dal when he met the Prime Minister in the wake of recent anti-Christian violence in Orissa and Karnataka.
"During my meeting with the Prime Minister, I discussed the communal incidents in Orissa and Karnataka and demanded a ban on Bajrang Dal and similar such outfits which create communal divide," Amar Singh said later.
He said he requested the Prime Minister to take strict action to curb fundamentalism of all types.
To a poser on SIMI, he said SP has never supported it. He claimed that the then SP government in UP had found nothing against SIMI.
"Agar ab SIMI ke viruddh kuch mil raha hai to zaroor karyavahi kijiye," (if evidences have been found against SIMI now, action should be taken against it),” he said.
This comment marks a turnaround in SP's position as its chief Mulayam Singh Yadav had in August opposed a ban on SIMI, saying it was ‘not involved in any unlawful incident’ in Uttar Pradesh.
"There is no need to impose a ban on SIMI. This should not have been done even earlier," Yadav had said when a Special Tribunal lifted a ban imposed on SIMI.
Supreme Court had later stayed the Tribunal's order.
Asked about the Prime Minister's reaction to his demand for ban on Bajrang Dal, Amar Singh said, "there is no confusion on Bajrang Dal. Why only Bajrang Dal, any kind of fundamentalism should be dealt with strictly."

If one look at the record of Samajwadi Party, their workers and leaders are more involved in crimes! One only wonders which way these parties of like SP, RJD and CPM is different as long as commission of crime against the humanity is concern? The only difference between these parties is that they are registered as political parties and SIMI is not. All these people are cause for the deaths of innocent people.

This bonehead amar singh blames the defense reaction of Bajrang Dal as an act of communal divide. The cunning rogue that he is, is ignoring the fact of a proactive action of christian missionaries to destroy the native culture of India and replace it by the fascist cult of christianity. His actions are to allow the root cause of the issue to continue, which is to keep allowing dollar funded missionaries to spew their hatred and intolerance against Hinduism. His strategy is to destroy and divide the Hindu unity and preservation, since it is already claimed by BJP. Hinduism upholds the values of Sanatan Dharma which provides ultimate understanding of the self within and the external universe. Politicians like him have always used rhetoric and propoganda to claim authenticity in presenting twisted and distorted lies as truth. The facts about how much harm the christian missionaries have been doing to Hindus and Hinduism all over India must be taken into consideration before imposing a ban on Bajrang dal. The missionaries have gone even to the extent of insulting and denigrating Hindu gods and goddesses.
