"The UPA government may have crossed the hurdle of trust vote, but the situation it created to win will lead to 'unrest' in the country, putting more burden on the common man and communal forces getting the opportunity to raise their heads," the party mouthpiece Ganashakti said in an editorial.
The CPM, in close coordination with other Left parties, would continue its struggle against 'sinister designs' of the Congress to sell the nation to US imperialism, it said.
Emphasizing that the Left parties were committed to safeguard the interests of the nation and the people, the daily said the Indo-US nuke deal would cause 'immense' harm to India's sovereign foreign policy' and claimed that the Leftists had brought the issues to the centrestage of national politics.
Charging the UPA with violating the Common Minimum Programme, it said the Left parties had aptly taken the decision to withdraw support from the government considering the issues affecting the interests of the country.
"Congress resorted to horse-trading, got the blessings of the corporate lobby, put in all efforts to keep Opposition MPs absent on the day of trust vote and finally tainted itself with the charge of bribe offers to BJP members inside the Lok Sabha."
The daily alleged that the Congress-led UPA government largely depended on money power to ensure its survival.
Saying it was a ‘shame’ that the UPA government ensured its survival by ‘unfair means’, the Ganashakti said, "It remains a mystery how and why 10 MPs abstained from voting."
Turning to the UPA government's determined bid to bring India under the US strategic designs, the daily said, "It will now become a practice to propagate US interests in agriculture, education and trade and commerce."
Moreover, it said, the US would get an opportunity to directly meddle in Indian foreign affairs ‘by means of the Hyde Act in relation to the Indo-US nuclear deal’.
"US will now get a free hand from UPA government to monitor India in all respects free of cost on a long-term basis," it said.
The CPM asked all Left parties to continue the movement against the nuclear agreement as also the anti-people policies of the Centre.
"We will not relent in our movement inside and outside Parliament on these vital national issues," the daily said.

This was waiting to happen; the CPI-M would have parted ways with the Government one way or the other before the next elections. The reason is that the Congress and not BJP are their biggest rivals in their three strong-hold states (Kerala, Bengal, and Tripura). It would have been difficult for them to fight the elections against Congress if the Goverment was to complete it's term still being friends to the CPI-M.Also, this would have been the case, although to a lesser degree, if the house were to be dissolved now and elections were to be held immediately.So, the CPI-M decision was a strategic one and not a stupid one as it is made to look like now. They just wanted to keep their butt safe in the long run!
We keep telling every one to keep off our 'internal matter', but still wants to poke our nose at what ever law is passed in the US. Instead of worrying about the laws passed by the US for their internal consumption, lets concentrate on the deal we have signed with the US. Could any of you enlightened ones point out which clause or clauses in that deal is against our interests?

Probably the biggest mistake of UPA was to have Left parties as an ally. Right from inception i was cynical about CPI(M) in ruling coalition. Bribing, horsetrading and all kinds of illegal acts were used to win the trust vote. The trust vote is therefore illegal and anulled. A lawsuit should be filed in the court to annul the so called trust vote. All persons responsible for bribing, horsetrading and other illigal activities to win the trust vote should be criminally prosecuted, and elections held immedeately to elect new ideviduals to restore the credibility of elected officals.
They engineered defections from both Congress and JD(S) within days of the new Government coming to power. All defected MLAs gave some lame excuses like they 'were doing it for the best of their constituencies'.All of them were forced to give up their legislative seats due to the anti defection law, but were all made ministers.Isn't that a bigger bribing and making mockery of the laws of the land and the people who elected them?
Those who accepted the bribes and kept them for a day without bringing it to the notice of the police should also be brought to book.
I accept ur view that bribing is unfair practice. But national parties like BJP should have stood their ground and supported the N-deal. They supported initially and later turned it to gain political advantage over Congress. This is a clear example of parties thinking about themselves and not about the nation.

Having parting ways with the ruling congress led UPA governement headed by Dr Manmohan Singh, the left leaders are now repenting that they are are no longer able to put spokes in the Indo-US nuclear deal issue. Whether America gets a free hand now or not is none of their concern. The left parties should set their own house in order first.

First thing that comes to mind is the choosing of Mayawati as their bed-fellow. The difference in intelligence levels between comrades and Mayawati with her illiterate clowns is so vast that I don't know how comrades will manage this relationship. Regarding N-Agreement, India is going to find it hard now to convince China. The reason is simple. Comrade Karat has faild to deliver and do the Chinese dirty work for them. China was supporting India in the hope that Karat will derail the deal and they will come out Kosha. Now they will think again to derail the agreement themselves. What was the inflation and growth rate before the start of economic reform? Was it single digit inflation with double digit growth? Has the employment opportunity improved?
