This is now a common phenomenon in India that for every small matter there are violent protests in the form of ruining public properties. The time has come to ponder seriously what are the main causes for such criminal activities? The first answers one always will get are ineffective government

That long distance trains will not stop at small stations is good, not only in Bihar but all over the country was needed for smooth and time saving journey times. But the authorities especially the Minister should have first informed the public and then assured them that they would have passenger trains running regularly to avoid inconvenience. But do our bureaucrats and politicians have any common sense? This cancelling of train stoppages was not only needed in Bihar but all over the country where needed. Right now the revised stoppages look vindictive

Torching of 6 boggies is one more example of mindlessness of protest domonsration. Hopefully, truths shall come out in the inquiry ordered by Railway Minister and guilty shall be brough to books. Such incidents have become more frequent. Therefore, Government must initiate steps to make pictorial evidences of violent demonstration as valid evidences in courts of law to determine punishments of lawbreakers. Clearly, both quickness and scale of violence that one sees indicate that the incidents are handiworks of interested groups and individuals with sufficient planning for atleast crowd mobilisation. These elements must not be given benefits of anonymity.

Why should so many passenegers suffer due to stupidity of some people? So many passengers were stranded at different stations.The Govt should take stringent action against such people so that such incidents never crop up in future.There are other ways of expressing grievance other than destroying national property.

Destroying properties has become a national nuisance in India. We have seen this bad practice in Punjab when there was fight in Vienna of Sick religious leaders. Now due to cancellations of railway stop burning trains is bad. There is no wonder if politicianms are involved also. Good education and proper punishment with publicity is the need of the hour throughout India to avoid destruction of properties on some reason or other.B S GANESH, BANGALORE

These types of vandalism were very common in the 70s and still occurs in Punjab and Bihar. This shows the level of the population's way of thinking - destroying Public Property. Solution: Nab all those responsible for it and make them pay for the damages, if not sufficient deduct from the sum alloted to the state.Otherwise freeze all railway services in the state till the population comes with an agreement to abide by a BILL - vandalists to be shot/jailed for hard labour for 3 years.

Lalloo should be handged for the crimes he has committed.The Railaway Board should review all his decesions and set aside personal favours done to staff at the costs of others.The Favours done his Banerjee in Godhra Train Carnagae in sending him to forign countries to study how the trainns are burnt to procure a favourable report the entire costs of the same must be recovered from him and Chaterjee by disposing of his stables,bunglows acquied by him in the name of family members at once.

People in this region do not seem to have changed in such matters since the horrendous Chauri Chura incident which made Gandhiji go into fast generations ago. This is a curse in our county. That is anyone even he is a foreigner, he can damage public things without any obligation. There is no law and order is going one on these persons. It is constitutional Provision to protect Central Govtmt Property .If they can not, Central Govt has right to recover it from State , if they fail to protect central property , But this provision never applyed by any Central Govt due to political selfishness of all parties.

Biharis of the nearest railway station should be made to pay for this destruction. No trains should halt at the station where the destruction occured for the next 10 years.This is the only way to teach them civilised behaviour. First they elected Laloo for more than a decade and now they blame their backwardness on the rest of India, wanting to be given a special status! Nitish Kumar though doing a good job, has a long way to go in cleaning the mess created by the Laloo and Rabri duo.
