Justice Kapadia, incidentally, is the third apex court judge to have recused himself from a business case in the recent past. Justice R V Raveendran had on Wednesday withdrawn from the three-member bench hearing the gas row between the Ambani brothers, claiming that his daughter was associated with a law firm advising the Mukesh Ambani group. Similarly, Justice Markandey Katju also recused himself from another RIL dispute with BPCL on the pricing of naphtha, as his wife holds shares in RIL.
Justice Kapadia was earlier part of a three-member special forest bench hearing a petition challenging mining of bauxite in hills in Orissa by Sterlite Industries. The judge had disclosed that he was a shareholder of the Vedanta Group company but neither party had objected to his being part of the bench. Still, certain sections of the media criticised him for not recusing himself.
However, with details of their assets now made public, Supreme Court judges are treading with more caution. Before the counsel could start arguments today, Justice Kapadia, upon asking and then finding out that the case pertained to Sesa Goa, said, “Not before me.”
The Bench headed by Kapadia was hearing a petition filed by Harinarayan Bajaj, a BSE broker, in 2007 seeking a stay on implementation of the public offer made by Vedanta Resources to buy 20 percent additional stake in the iron ore exporting firm Sesa Goa.

It%u2019s shocking to know how many judges, even at the highest level are so blinded by greed. How can a person trust such judges to deliver justice! They get decent salary and many other expensive benefits by tax payers%u2019 money only to adjudicate justice and what they are doing? Investing with one of the most corrupt industrial houses to earn more and more! Shame on you JUDGES. No wonder people are taking laws into their own hands with slightest provocation. How can police or army can stop extremist violence, be it done by Maoist or any other group or people?
Sir, It is indeed shoking to see one after another judges of supreme court withdrawing from the high profile Ambani case. The question is what happens if all the judges backout? Is judicary independent? Are the judges under pressure from governemnt or political parties? Or are judges avaoiding being party to the money scam which is palying a major role behind the scene? There is a need to carry out introspection and debate must be carried out by media in public to expose the rot in the system. How can two super empowered people take the nation to ransom. Well it cant be done without the conivence of the politicians and babus. Political and babu lobby is divided. It beats my imagination how Mukesh and Anil can get an audiance with PM and Finance Minister at will where as if a common man want to meet these VIPs they cant even get an access. Where as except money they are common people and have same protocol as a labourour on the street.Sad. Oh my country i mourn judiciary is dieing.
