New Delhi, February 15 A 33-year-old man lost his life when his bike hit a road divider meant for the Delhi government’s Bus Rapid Transit System (BRTS), formerly known as High Capacity Bus System (HCBS). The incident took place at Lajpat Nagar near Moolchand flyover around 7 am on Friday.

According to police officials, Navneel Singh, a drummer, was returning home after playing at a local pub when the incident took place.

“He had played at a night pub and was returning to his Loni Road house in north-east Delhi. After he crossed the Moolchand Flyover, his bike crashed into a BRTS divider and he fell. He was hit on his head,” a senior police officer said.

Navneel was rushed to AIIMS where he was declared brought dead, the police said.

Officers said Singh’s father owns a factory in the Loni Road area. The police have registered a case and are investigating the matter, they said.

Earlier too, fatal accidents have taken place due to the BRTS. After the incidents, the agency had arranged better lightings and appointed traffic marshals besides making a slight correction on the stretch after the Moolchand flyover, following recommendations from the traffic police.
