Navin jindal

Kurukshetra A retired school principal, claiming to be a Congressman, today hurled a shoe at party MP Navin Jindal, during a meeting here in what appears to be a fast catching trend inspired by the episodes involving George Bush and later Home Minister P Chidambaram.

The shoe, thrown by 62-year-old Rajmal Singh Saharan, who retired as the Principal of a Government School in Babain village, missed the target and hit a party activist sitting next to Jindal on the dais at the Kurukshetra District Congress Bhawan.

Before Jindal could react, the local MLA Ramesh Gupta picked up the shoe and threw it in the direction it had come from. However, the shoe once again missed the target and hit another Congress worker.

Enraged party workers soon pounced on the retired principal and badly beat him up before two senior journalists could come to his rescue.

Before being taken into custody and whisked away by the police, Saharan told reporters that he hurled the shoe at Jindal to vent his personal grievance against the local MP who could not get a job for his son in Kurukshetra University.

Apparently taking cue from the episode involving the US President George Bush in Baghdad last year, a Sikh journalist had on Tuesday hurled a shoe at Chidambaram at a press conference in Delhi protesting against the CBI clean chit to Congress candidate Jagdish Tytler in an anti-Sikh riots case.

Demon understands language of stick by Varinder on 11 Apr 2009

It appears retired principal took a leaf from the shoe hurling incidence of Jarnail Singh. If Jarnail Singh's shoe hurling can bring Congress party into senses after exhausting patience ofr the last 25 years. It is proved that Congress is like a demon who undestands the language of shoes and not the patience. Therefore the action of the retired principal though deplorable but shows how congress is playing with the sentiments of the people.

Sir,The shoe act, since the one on Bush in Iraq, has caught up in a deplorable way.it is time that parties and the groups that are likely to be benefited publicly decry such incidents in future and distance itself promptly from the individuals that perpetrate the act.

Shameful politicians by naans on 11 Apr 2009

Now it is time, not just to hurl shoes at the politicians, but to crucify them for their misdeeds and for looting the country, These politicians have created more damage than the mohd of ghazni or the Britishers.. For example bigamy is a crime, one of the states is ruled by a person who practices bigamy, Two a cobblers son is worth a few thousand crores, how on earth has he made this sort of a money.. Such politicians are the meance to this society. Not only shoes should be thrown at them, they should be crucified.. An end should be put to these shameful politicians..

Mera Bharat Mahan Phir Bhi Hai Pareshan by Manoj on 10 Apr 2009

Acts of shoe throwing clearly prove the fact Indians simly want the glorious past again. A past where an Indian did not live with fraud in the mind and fear in the heart.

Shoe throwing by Khan Abdul on 10 Apr 2009

Disgusting behavior. Are these the values that this "School Principal" imparted to the children that he has taught? If you are frustrated, there are other legal ways of having the issues resolved - go to court, campaign and canvas other voters to not vote for the same politician etc. Throwing shoes is not a "democratic privilege".That other correspondents are treating this issue as a joking matter is indeed sad. A President, a Cabinet Minister, an MP represent an institution and the institution should be respected though you may not necessarily respect the person holding the position. That some Americans appreciated the shoe throwing at their President or some people appreciated the Sikh journalist throwing a shoe at the Home Minister, is reflective of the perverse and distorted minds of these individuals.

COMMUNAL POLICY OF CONGRESS by Baij Nath on 10 Apr 2009

Shoe was hurled by a well-read sikh journalist at Cong Home Minister Chidambaram in his press conference the other day in New Delhi, the capital of the greatest democracy in the world because congress party is communal and is guilty of perpetrating communal anti-Sikh riots in 1984. A quarter century has passed but our sikh brotherns are still waiting for justice at the hands of Congress party and their CBI. To add fuel to fire on 6.4.2009 CBI gave clean chit to Jagdish Tytler, former Lok Sabha MP. The worst communal act on the part of Congress was to nominate Tytler for LK election,2009 from a prestigious North-East Delhi parliamentary seat on Congress ticket along with another Congress nomimee involved in ani-Sikh riots,1984 to contest another equally important parliamentary seat of South Delhi. Sikh community protested against this anti-Sikh and communal act of Congress and violence erupted in Delhi and many parts of Punjab. Sikhs from Andhra Pradesh have also protested violently and told the Central Govt. of Congress/UPA/SP that they will not vote for Congress nominees in the forthcoming Lok Sabha elections starting from 16.4.2009.In the wake of violent protests caused by anti-Sikh riots,1984, Congress will not get Sikh community support joined also by many Hindu organisations. In a similar incidence yesterday, a well-read teacher or principal hurled a shoe at the beautiful face of young Congress MP Naveen Jindal during an election speech because he has not received justice at the hands of Congress authority in the matter of his servicec career. The tirade has started against the communal Congress policies pursued since independence. It is for this reason that immediately after indepemdence of India on 15.8.1947, Mahatama Gandhi, father of the nation, had advised greedy and power-hungery Congress to disband itself, not seek power, and devote their energies to the social welfare of the people of India for whose freedom they fought. Instead the devoted solely to their personal welfare and self-aggrandisement. THE RESULT IS BEFORE EVERYBODY TO SEE, INCLUDING WE INDIANS LIVING IN FAR OFF PLACE LIKE USA. It is very very unfortunaste. Congress party should mend its ways and say good bye to the communal approach to every social, political, judicial aspect of the fabric of this young democracy of India which opened its eyes only half-century ago. It has many many miles to go yet and the communal approach of Congress to Hindus/Sikhs and very often communal appeasement of muslim community will totally destroy its future in the very near future: WATAN KI FIKAR KAR NAADAAN MUSEEBAT AANEWALI HAI / TERI BARBADIYON KE MASHVAREY HAIN AASMAOAN MEIN: NA SAMJHO GEY TO MIT JAAOGAY AE HINDUSTAAN WALOA TUMHARI DAASTAN TAK BHI NA HOGI DAASTANOAN MEIN.

Publicity stunt by Jafar Zaidi on 10 Apr 2009

Dear Editor,Few days back we read that Sardar Jarnail Singh,a journalist by profession hurled shoe on Mr. Chidambram. Later on 18th I read an article written by Mr. Singh in his colums which praised the courage and the cause. The article is highly appreciative to Sardar Jarnail Singh. He got wide publicity by Indian and foreign TV and press. If the press continues to give coverage to such incidents they are bound to be repeated by publicity hungry men. We will see many re-plays of the seens.Sincerely YpursZaidi

It takes years before one earns the epitaph Leader by Anil Kohli on 10 Apr 2009

By what standards are these politicians classified as Leaders. If Lalu and company are leaders then it is only natural, there should be complete lawlessness in India. These are poor example to follow. The public is expressing its complete disgust, towards these self styled, media created LEADERS. Please stop insulting us by calling them Leaders. These are power crazed, self serving individuals, who are not in politics for serving the country or its people.Repeat incidence is serious. All should take note, this could easily snowball into a major tragedy.

Teaching from a school teacher - principal by Prem on 10 Apr 2009

Teaching is supposed to be a nobel profession and those who teach are treated no less than gods. Its sad to see how this Principal behaved. Wonder if his students would respect him for this act.

"No foot wear inside, please!" by Padmaja Parthasarathy on 10 Apr 2009

I think all the people who attend such public meetings should be asked to remove their shoes outside the pavilion, ground or hall, just like we do in Temples and other such holy places. This probably will solve this problem. What else can you do when people have no control over their anger and start behaving like children with temper tantrums?
