Union Minority Affairs Minister A R Antulay today kicked up a political storm when he raised doubts over the circumstances around the killing of Maharashtra Anti-Terrorism Squad chief Hemant Karkare and suggested a link with the Malegaon blasts that the officer and his team were investigating.Calling for a CBI probe into his death, Antulay said “there is more than what meets the eye” as Karkare was investigating cases in which “there are non-Muslims also” and “somebody wanted Karkare killed”. That “somebody”, Antulay claimed, sent the officer to the place where he was killed.
Congress spokesperson Abhishek Singhvi said these should be treated as Antulay’s “personal views” and the party did not agree with him.
Karkare was attacked by leaders of the BJP for his probe into the blast that killed six Muslims in Malegaon on September 29 — 11 suspected Hindu extremists are in jail in the case. Leader of the Opposition L K Advani had even called for a change in the investigation team.
The BJP attacked Antulay for his remarks and demanded an immediate clarification from the Prime Minister.
Speaking to The Indian Express, Antulay said: “Somebody who knew both the ends sent him (Karkare) in the wrong direction otherwise why should he have gone to Cama hospital? He should have gone to Taj, Oberoi or Nariman House. He went to such a place where there was nothing compared to what was happening in these three places. He went to the Cama hospital on the basis of a phone call. Who is that person who made the phone call? This should be probed.”
“Karkare found that there are non-Muslims involved in acts of terrorism... Any person going to the roots of terror has always been the target... Superficially speaking, they (the terrorists) had no reason to kill Karkare. Whether he (Karkare) was a victim of terrorism or terrorism plus something, I do not know,” he said.
“I can’t say who killed him,” Antulay said. “I leave it you. But you remember what all was said against the poor man. He was an upright officer. I know a bandh call was given against him before he was killed.”
He said the CBI should be asked to find out “who was responsible for sending him (Karkare) in the wrong direction... somebody wanted him to be killed... why all three (Karkare, Additional Commissioner Ashok Kamte and encounter specialist Vijay Salaskar) went together is beyond my comprehension.”
Under fire from the BJP and Shiv Sena in Lok Sabha, Antulay later said he had not talked about who killed Karkare but only about “who sent him in the direction” of Cama hospital.
He told The Indian Express that his questions regarding Karkare’s death had “nothing to do with the veracity of the reports and the investigation of the Mumbai terror attacks which have made it clear that the terrorists had come from Pakistan. There is no issue on that, that has been clearly established. Anybody interpreting my questions in any other way is doing so out of context.”
On the amendments in the law to tackle terror, Antulay said that it would be better if the same stringency is “exercised against major cases of rioting... communalism and terror are twin brother/sister, and if the Act covers Naxalism which is a form of extremist violence, there is no reason not to think that it should also be applicable to all forms of extremist violence which includes major communal incidents.”
“Any law can be misused. I cannot rule out the possibility of this law also being misused. What I am saying is that suppose if it is made applicable to cases of communal riots also, then everybody will keep quiet,” he said.

Kakare is a very good, sharp and intelligent police officer, he got some truths about indian terrorists by investigating the Malgove blast. You know how many innocent people killed in Malgove blast.And putting blame on one community. Its all done to get the sympothy and make vote bank for the party. You know he he has got some proofs related to other riots and blasts happened before. So the existence of Kakare will make troble for them.As a minister, Antulay raised to investigate the death of the Kakare. He didnt criticised anybody. Somebody sent him to the hospital to execute some preplanned things. We didnt see anywhere in media or newspaper, the hospital is attacked by the terrorist. Even the very inteligent police officer like Kakare, it wont happen. somebody cheated him.

Strictly, "shaheed" is one who lays down his life fighting for Islam. Unless Karkare was killed while fighting for Islam (which I doubt very much!), it is grossly incorrect to call him that. The correct word is "hutatma" who is one sacrificing his life for any just and noble cause. So, PUHLEEZ! Let us stop calling him 'shaheed' to save him from insult after the supreme sacrifice!!!
Trust me guys i have never heard of this man Antulay...Now i know this man and i think this is what he had in his mind when he made that comment about karkares' death..I feel there are many like me..

Its highly disgusting to see the extent to which cheap politicians like Antulay can stoop to! Now at a time when the country should stand united, this old idiot wants to rake up internal rifts with his nasty remarks.Is Antulay trying to say that the terrorists at Taj would not have killed Karkare if he had gone there? Karkare was a hero who died while saving the nation - Antualy please dont drag respectable hero's sacrifice like Karkare's into a unwanted and useless controversy for your own cheap political gains. The entire nation knows you supported Dawood Ibrahim who is a notorious smuggler and terrorist and since you supported him, you are no less a terrorist!
ther is no doubt that all the terrorists are from pakistan. antulay have right to say,but the way and time both are wrong.if we consider his point it shows 2 things.1.the caller directly(serve the terrorists) or indirectly(may be forced by politician) misguided Karkare to go on wrong place so that terrorist could get the cab as well as weapons in advance and served themselves.2. it may be coincidence or may have some issue for Karkare to go at that direction(it need not the hospital way) and meeting unfortunate tragedy.now its too late for antulay to say his statement ,he must linked to ISI so that india may be diverted from pak to internal issues.at last i can say pakistan's dust of terrorism and that caller/or antulay both are going to be removed from our sight in coming days.
Antulay's statement is irresponsible and baseless. It's important to inquire whether he's involved/linked/bribed by any Pak based terroris group/ISI! A legitimate question could be raised looking at his past political behavior.
Anthulay's remarks came at a most inoppotune moment. Everyone knows that politicians of his likes will always rake up foolish things to revive their vote banks which is their ultimate aim. Anthulay is a very tainted man and proved himself to be traitor now. No importance should be given to the rantings of such a seemingly mentally deranged person who has outlived his utility in politics. Media should divert focus to other events. This political devil should not be given any attention. If he has doubts over Karkare's death the public has doubts over Anthulay's involvement in this attack . Who knows if he is not trying to divert attention?
It is not matter that his resignation acceptable or not and wht he said. But what are the problem if CBI enquire who are direct our Brave Karkare to go Cama hospital.
What action is to be taken on any person (now say Antulay) who demands an enquiry in the death of our valuable officials?What action was taken against the weeing PIGS, who until 26th November were yelling that the now Shaheed Karkare and others were Traitors, Deshdrohis, etc.? And now after 26th November Many of these are the main forerunner politicians who are feeling insulted when an enquiry is demanded on the death of our courageous and sincere officials who showed rare GUTS to take action against TERRORISTS without seeing their colour.

And now its failure to take action against Pakistan. Antulay who hides behind a Marathi surname is trying to protect the image of the community to which the perpetrators of this carnage belonged. Mr. Antulay is speaking the same language as the Pakistani Government, ISI and the Pakistani media. The government of India will do well to probe his ISI links if it really cares for the safety of Indian citizens. If a Sadhwi and a serving Lt. Col of the army can be "terrorists" why not a cabinet minister? At least the Sadhwi and the Lt. Col. did not speak the same language of our enemies like Mr. Antulay did.
An Thorough Sincere enquiry will make it clear, who are the INVOLVED culprits. And thats what everyone, including Antulay, are demanding.

We all know Antulay's nexus with D Company when he was Maharashtra CM. If anything he should be investigated first. Also I find it amusing that he said terrorist had no reason to kill Karkare, does he mean Karkare was working for them?? Pls explain?
India ia afree democratic country . Everyone has a freedm to express his views. but the thing it should not get hurt to any religious beliefs. My view is that the comment on karkare's murder whether its true or not what the point of not investigating .?. He has pointed out why all 3 officers were gone to Cama Hospital where there were nothing Happening . Morever he got a phone call he will be killed .. why dont u investigate who was the person behind these call and y thses 3 officers sent to Cama ?? I can read there are people saying about anthulay is the agent of ISI... how people can commnet such cheap comment. when karkare arrested some Hindutva leaders , we all seen double stand of BJP.. that time they were starting talking about Human Rights ??? Now everything seem to boil down to who sent Mr. Karkare to Cama Hospital. The Antulay sympathizers now have nothing more than to believe somebody from Saffron brigade sent Mr. Karkare to Cama Hospital where terrorists were hiding, so that he goes there and get killed. What a great thought!!! First of all who could ask a police officer of his rank to do what he did. Can somebody from Saffron brigade have that kind of information before hand where the terrorists are going to move immediately after they massacred people at CST? If they knew this were they working in close synchrony with Pakistanis? I think you all who claim for an investigation will eat a crow even after an investigation will get conducted. Mr Antulay....camera's are on....so you can open your mouth and speak without thinking......so you get instant popularity.....but remember even you Muslim supporters are wise enough to know that this is nothing in their interest.....they know that you have not said this because you care for them..........so simply shut your mouth and go someplace....because it seems like you are an ISI agent.........who wants to cause more disturbance in the country.
Do these people understand it maybe, maybe not. But these statements must have been made by Mr Antulay to show how great he is and point a finger towards BJP as criminals responsible for Mr Karkare's death. Which of course is not true. The Three brave men were just in the wrong place at the wrong time. By making this statement however Mr Antulay has made it easier for Pakistan to say there is no proof of Pakistani hand in spite of it being obvious to the world. By saying without thinking he has played into their and helped matters for Pakistan. (Just a coincidence that he says something which is helping Pakistan !!!!!) and ultimately probably its vote bank politics and nothing else.
Congress is scared to pursue Antulay's theory because in Indian politics. Any party, REPEAT ANY POLITICAL PARTY believing in democracy or communism, or God conscious parties or the so called Atheist parties( in public not at home), NO party can come to power without appeasing the Hindu majority. This is a fact, but other parties exceedingly put the blame for this attitude on BJP which is partly true but mostly wrong because after all 80% of the voters are strong believers in Hinduism of one version or other, not necessary the entire 80% are practicing perfect Hinduism. Psychologically they are sensitive towards their faith. Anything to do with Pakistan adds fuel to the fire. So Congress should walk a tight rope in the case of Antulay's remark, feeling that hell with the minority view of a revivalist but unpopular minority guy., Antulay does not decide the vote bank of neither his community or other secularists in spite of his credentials. So why bother, ignore him.
