Union Minority Affairs Minister A R Antulay today kicked up a political storm when he raised doubts over the circumstances around the killing of Maharashtra Anti-Terrorism Squad chief Hemant Karkare and suggested a link with the Malegaon blasts that the officer and his team were investigating.Calling for a CBI probe into his death, Antulay said “there is more than what meets the eye” as Karkare was investigating cases in which “there are non-Muslims also” and “somebody wanted Karkare killed”. That “somebody”, Antulay claimed, sent the officer to the place where he was killed.
Congress spokesperson Abhishek Singhvi said these should be treated as Antulay’s “personal views” and the party did not agree with him.
Karkare was attacked by leaders of the BJP for his probe into the blast that killed six Muslims in Malegaon on September 29 — 11 suspected Hindu extremists are in jail in the case. Leader of the Opposition L K Advani had even called for a change in the investigation team.
The BJP attacked Antulay for his remarks and demanded an immediate clarification from the Prime Minister.
Speaking to The Indian Express, Antulay said: “Somebody who knew both the ends sent him (Karkare) in the wrong direction otherwise why should he have gone to Cama hospital? He should have gone to Taj, Oberoi or Nariman House. He went to such a place where there was nothing compared to what was happening in these three places. He went to the Cama hospital on the basis of a phone call. Who is that person who made the phone call? This should be probed.”
“Karkare found that there are non-Muslims involved in acts of terrorism... Any person going to the roots of terror has always been the target... Superficially speaking, they (the terrorists) had no reason to kill Karkare. Whether he (Karkare) was a victim of terrorism or terrorism plus something, I do not know,” he said.
“I can’t say who killed him,” Antulay said. “I leave it you. But you remember what all was said against the poor man. He was an upright officer. I know a bandh call was given against him before he was killed.”
He said the CBI should be asked to find out “who was responsible for sending him (Karkare) in the wrong direction... somebody wanted him to be killed... why all three (Karkare, Additional Commissioner Ashok Kamte and encounter specialist Vijay Salaskar) went together is beyond my comprehension.”
Under fire from the BJP and Shiv Sena in Lok Sabha, Antulay later said he had not talked about who killed Karkare but only about “who sent him in the direction” of Cama hospital.
He told The Indian Express that his questions regarding Karkare’s death had “nothing to do with the veracity of the reports and the investigation of the Mumbai terror attacks which have made it clear that the terrorists had come from Pakistan. There is no issue on that, that has been clearly established. Anybody interpreting my questions in any other way is doing so out of context.”
On the amendments in the law to tackle terror, Antulay said that it would be better if the same stringency is “exercised against major cases of rioting... communalism and terror are twin brother/sister, and if the Act covers Naxalism which is a form of extremist violence, there is no reason not to think that it should also be applicable to all forms of extremist violence which includes major communal incidents.”
“Any law can be misused. I cannot rule out the possibility of this law also being misused. What I am saying is that suppose if it is made applicable to cases of communal riots also, then everybody will keep quiet,” he said.

It is a very simple matter. The policeman who survived the attack on the jeep had very clearly mentioned that these 3 officers were killed by two terrorists in the firing. That policeman was himself seriously injured and lied in the jeep pretending to be dead while those terrorists drove the jeep away from Cama Hospital. Anything else is just speculation and starting communal hatred. This will provide ammunition to the perpetrators to run away. How did so called hindu terrorists know that Karkare will be there at CST and there will be an attack on CST. I think this statement has humiliated the sacrifice of the policemen and Karkare. Looking at the comments, I can see that this statement has worked because now lot of people are asking to investigate the death of Karkare. The attention from Pakistan has gone out. GOD SAVE INDIA.
Same old congress policy of appeasement. Old congress guards like Antule are yet to come out from their typical Congress mind set of grand old days and accept the reality of Rahul Congress. His careless remark will surely cheer up the Muslim fundamentalists and Pakistan and to some extent VHP and RSS type organizations as well.

What about the cement scam money? All for the help of ISI ? You did not stop import of RDX which was unloaded near your home town, which RDX was supposed to be used for 1993 serial blasts. The caught terrorist who has confessed is no terrorist at all. This UPA govt led by Sonia and Manmohan have such viceral hatred for Hindus they would have India become the laughing stock in the world. Terror against Indians is like rape - the victim asks for it.

This appears to be a balancing act by Congress. Congress is under sever pressure to bring Strong Laws, which may "hurt" their minority votes. They have to balance it by doing something like this. Malegaon investigation was also a Balancing act as there were so many bomb blasts involving muslims, you needed something done by Hindu's so that both can be equated..... antulay's link with the prime accused groups in the terror attacks ( LET, JEM, JUD ) should be probed.now muslims of india should know why hindus do not trust muslims ?a valiant officer who had died in the terrorist strike is being shamefully insulted by our so called muslim politicians ?i think antulay has not read the statement of kasab, the only surviving terrorist that one of them had shot the three officers.also, kasab has himself confessed that he had gone to cama hospital to get some hostages.the indian parliament should arrest the like of antulay, paswan, immediately and probe their links with pakistani terror outfits ?
Congrats to Antulay you have come out very bravely with asking for the investigation of Karkare's death and some queries you have raised are really to be probed . he has only raised a query not blamed anybody why make a fuss about it and why BJP and Shiv Sena react to his statement so badly Is it that Guilty conscious pricks the mind Congrats Mr Antulay you have really brought up a very good point and Hats off to you

After the Mumbai attack, the people there demonstrated against the LEADERS of the country using very abusive slogans. Till yesterday only, I was not ready to agree with them. I still believe that the attempts to shatter our faith in our democratic system should not be encouraged. But, Mr. Antulay's remarks have forced me to think the same as the agitators did. This is the height of shameful minority appeasement. Mr. Antulay's attempt will lead the brave Karkare's sacrifice to the dark. Does Mr. Antulay mean that Karkare did not lose his life combating the terrorists. Karkare's "atma" would be weeping to hear all this rubbish being spread by such congress leaders. The same was done in the case of Sharma by misleading the country that it was a fake encounter. Congress should make it clear whether its leaders are appeasing the muslims by targeting the hindu saints and organisations keeping in view the Parliament elections. If so, it will lead to hindu mobilisation into a HINDU VOTE BANK.
India is a democratic country and Antulay has equal right to ask saperate enquiry either it from the party or individual, government should come forward and fulfill his demand, so that everthing should be transparents, no doubts should remain to any one, moreover is no insult to ATS chief Karkare because it give importance to Karkare and all other officer will work fearlessly in future.

Sir, Madan Lal Khurana clear gave his interviews to the media and he even shot a letter to PM Manmohan Singh in which he clearly stated, that Advani and Sushma Swaraj had connections with Dawood Ibrahim.After these statements the BJP took him back.The role of the Bharat jalao party has veen very negative, because like the Mumbai terrorists, it's role was to divide the country on the basis of relion and caste, but that did not happen, and the Bharat Jalao Party (BJP) lost.Now there is a possiblity, that Hemenat Karkare was eithet shot by terrorists or a person of Nathu Godse calibre, and what is wrong to probe this link? Modi visited Taj when siege was on.... he criticised Prime Minister of being soft....We jumped.... hey he is politicising the terrorism. What Antulay is saying in not politicisation....just because he belongs to Congress and Minority (double whammy !). Abdul Rahman Antulay is an idiot. If he had followed the events carefully, it would be very clear as to why the three brave officers were not in the places indicated by him. The carnage initially started at the train terminus and both the assassins moved from the location after killing 50 odd people. Based on the news paper report, it appears that one of the Police Officers was also injured or died in that incident. The three slain officers got this information and started the chase from then onwards. Ultimately the they lost their lives to the bullets fired by the terrorists. It was also established clearly that no senior officer was available to man the police control room and as such the police reaction could be described chaotic at best. Again the ballistics will prove that the bullets recovered from the bodies of the officers are fired by the terrorists or not. Till such time Antulay should keep his trap shut. Antulay is a disgrace to India.
Antulay's statement is very typical of all fundamentalist muslims who are in a perpetual denial mode. This deflection of attention from the truth is called 'Takkiya' which is an accepted Islamic practise which justifies lying to promote Islam.
