Ahmedabad, August 21 Crime branch claims same module worked at both places

The Ahmedabad City Detection of Crime Branch (DCB) has reiterated that the 10 people arrested in connection with the July 26 Ahmedabad serial blasts are responsible for planting the explosives in Surat.

Joint Commissioner of Police Ashish Bhatia said: “We are pretty sure that the module, which triggered the blasts in Ahmedabad on July 26 is involved in planting the bombs in Surat.” Bhatia, however, did not divulge the details they had gleaned from the 10 accused during their police remand. “The 10 accused are in police remand and their interrogation is still on. We are collecting all the information,” he said.

Nine of the 10, including Sajid Mansuri, Yunus Mansuri, Samsuddin Shaikh, Arif Kagzi, Gyasuddin Shaikh, Imran Shaikh, Usman Agarbattiwala, Iqbal Shaikh and Zahid Shaikh are from Gujarat. One Mufti Abu Bashir, considered to be the mastermind of the Ahmedabad blasts by the DCB, is from Azamgarh in Uttar Pradesh.

The Surat police had recovered more than 25 live bombs from different parts of the city between July 27 and August 3 and were successful in defusing all of them.
