‘Army downgraded by 6th pay commision’

Ludhiana, August 18 The Ex-Servicemen Welfare Society, Ludhiana, today expressed dissatisfaction over the recommendations of the sixth pay commission.

In a meeting held today, the ex-servicemen said there was an urgent need to restore their 1947 status. They said the army is called out to control floods and other natural calamities when civil administration fails, but they are down graded while granting status and pay. The meeting was organised under the chairmanship of Brig. P S Toor and Col. R S Sirohi, the president of the society.

Col. Gurjit singh, Col. B S Sandhu, Col. Mukhtiar Singh and Sqn. Ldr. Sardool Singh, among others, expressed their grave concern over the rising prices and urged the authorities to look after the problems faced by defence personnel on priority.
