Brigadier D.S. Grewal, while inaugurating the exhibition, which will remain open tomorrow for the general public, said it was aimed at creating awareness among rural youth about the Army and motivating them to join the forces.
Recalling the sacrifices of the defence personnel during the wars fought since independence, he said the Army was fully prepared to tackle any untoward incident from across the border.
Talking to the media, he said problems relating to family quarters for Army jawans will be resolved shortly, as 3,800 quarters were ready for allotment. He said a school for 41 mentally retarded children was being run, besides a military school with modern infrastructure had been made functional.
A visitor, Vinay, said the exhibition should be followed by recruitment camps at village levels so that the youth could join en mass.
