Washington Prime Minister Manmohan Singh says he does not know whom to deal with in Pakistan noting that the Army was the most powerful force in that country and that it was virtually wielding power.

"I think the most element force in Pakistan is the Army... We have to recognise that the power today virtually rests with the Army...I do not think whether we have a partner right now," he said, adding, "I do not know whom to deal with."

Singh also accused Pakistan of not doing enough to bring to book the perpetrators of the Mumbai terror attacks observing that a "friendly" government there would be equally determined to tackle terrorism and take the case to its logical conclusion. "That is not happening," he said.

"No, they (Pakistan) have not done enough," Singh told CNN in an interview taken in New Delhi and aired minutes before the Prime Minister arrived in Washington on the first State Visit of the Obama Administration.

Asked if he believed the Pakistani Army was serious in tackling terrorists, Singh said he is not certain if the military will take on those elements.

"There is democracy. We would like democracy to succeed and flourish in Pakistan, but we have to recognise that the power today virtually rests with the Army," he said.

The Prime Minister said he does not think that India has a partner in Pakistan today.

"I do not think whether we have a partner right now. I think, when General Pervez Musharraf (was the President) I was to ask him and he said well I am the Army, I represent the armed forces, I represent the people. Now I do not know whom to deal with," he said.

Claim that Madam Gandhi Created Bhindrenwale is a Lie! by ABC on 26 Nov 2009

Indira Gandhi had one and only one meeting with a dissident Akalidal Leader. She neither encouraged him to pickup arms against anyone nor she sent him to any terror training camp. Politicians routinely meet dissident leader, especially these days of coalition politics. Bhindrenwale even ridiculed her by calling her "a Brahmin's Daughter" since he didn't get what he expected from her. We meet several people in our daily lives. Some of them may commit a crime, a suicide or even turn into a terrorist leader. One unrelated encounter doesn't make us responsible for any of those acts. Unfortunately, by mere repetition, a lie becomes the reality for the credulous. Another of the smears you often hear is against Panditji for saying Indo-Chini Bhai Bhai. Calling an adversary, a brother or a friend is 'diplomacy'. There is not a single US President since WWII who didn't refer to his Soviet/Russian counterpart, a personal friend!

Truth can be a bitter pill by Harinder Singh on 24 Nov 2009

Where do the Sikhs go to get justice for the genocide of 1984? The justice system of the world's "largest democracy" is a joke.

Haven't You Gone to Bhindrenwale? by ABC on 25 Nov 2009

So much anguish for the Sikh victims, deservingly so! What caused the riots? Were they unprovoked or was it a 10 years of bottled frustration? Indians respect Sikhs (for a good reason) and many took advantage of it by blatantly supporting and indulging in terrorism. Every life is precious. But that applies to Hindu lives too!

Haven't You Gone to Bhindrenwale? by amar_jkp on 26 Nov 2009

10 yrs of frustration ? this show the dirty Hindu mind of justifying the genocide .

Who is dirty? by ABC on 27 Nov 2009

Rs. 100 crore was given to Sikh victims and you're still complaining. What did the Hindus that were killed and raped by Sikhs get?

Riots ???? when did they happen or ethnic cleansing, genocide, holocaust of sikhs by livia on 24 Nov 2009

the word riots is softplay. human rights reports clearly show it was ehtnic cleansing, holocaust, genocide of the sikhs.

Indian democracy by ravjeet singh on 24 Nov 2009

dear fellow boarders, Please read the constitution of india. In Article 25, it states that Sikhs are part of Hindu religion. so where is freedom of religion. It is same as a hindu being called a muslim and has to do everything under the Muslim law like marrying under the muslim law. A sikh has to register marriage under Hindu marriage act while before independence there was a differnt Anand Marraige act for Sikhs. Even after 25 years you want to wipe history. So stop teaching about your historical characters of independence, stop teaching history at school. My friend Bobby you dont know the other side of the coin and all the politicians including Sikh politicians they will all play and a normal man will always suffer.

Your sentiments are legitimate! by ABC on 26 Nov 2009

Gandhi's biggest issue in South Africa was that Hindu Marriages were not recognized by British. But your grievance was no excuse for the 10 year orgy of rape and murder of Hindus and Madam Gandhi's assassination!

Was PM roaming in search of answer so far? by Balbir Singh Sooch on 24 Nov 2009

'I don't know whom to deal with in Pakistan: PM Has PM gone to USA President Mr. Barack Obama to get the question solved as to with whom he should deal in Pakistan? Isn%u2019t really so?

Our PM about Pakistan by Phiroze B. Javeri on 24 Nov 2009

If a person procures a large, powerful dog and deliberately makes him ferocious and dangerous in the belief that it will be a potent guard dog for his family, he will rue his decision when the same dog turns on him and mauls him badly. Dog trainers know that they first need to gain full control of the dog, and only then teach it to attack. Alas! Pakistan did not learn this lesson. The ferocious dog has turned on its master. And now our PM wonders who governs Pakistan! Good question .... No answer.

Whom to deal with for justice to 1984 riots by kulmohan on 23 Nov 2009

Sir, if you were a little more honest you would also issue a statement saying that you don't know whom to deal with in India on the matter of justice for 1984 riots. This is so because the majority community which constitutes the Judiciary/Police force/Media has very conveniently assummed that the 1984 riots were justified as a revenge for the killing of Indira Gandhi. Until those belonging to the majority community choose to deliver justice to the minorities at large, there can be no justice even with the PM of our country being a Sikh. In India of present times, justice is only being sought for 26/11 from neighbouring countires whereas justice to the our homeland's self grown 1984 riots is delibrately being forgotten.

Justice for our brothers Sikhs by Boby Mehta on 24 Nov 2009

Shame on you Kulmohan, every Hindu, even Congress supporters, are asking for justice for Sikhs but, like Muslims, Sikhs also have started blaming Hindus for everything under the sky. I have written hundereds of times for justice but now people like you, like Muslims, are making Hindus against you. Remember, Sikhs are not a minority, all Gurus were Hindus and they belong to Hinduism, I respect my Gurus as I respect Lord Ram and Lord Krishna. Don't push your luck, Sikhs will end up like Muslims, most dispised.

justice For Sikhs by MahendraG on 25 Nov 2009

Dear Bobby Mehta, with due love and respect, Try to correct yourself. Which congress leader has Taken serious action to get Justice for the 1984 Riot Victims. the Open and Clear Example is Jagdish Tytler, Whom many Victims witnessed to carry on Carnage of Innocent Sikhs, is Roaming Free and is still a Congress Leader. Shame Shame. It is a big Blot on the History of India. We should not turn all Hindus to be a Thankless Community as If you Realy Know the History. The Hindu majority is in India Because of The Greatest Sacrifices of our Great GURUS. There is no Match in the world of the sacrifices which have been made by Gurus by Sacrificing Not only their own lives but of their all families. The Great Tradition is still being carried on by Great Brave Sikhs. So Do not indulge in Thankless Language. It is High time that All Hindus Openly Acknowledge that these all Temples ans Religious shrines Stand High Give us Clear Signs, That they Stand Because the Great Sikh Gurus Pour their BLOOD in the Foundations of these Shrines. So it is an over Due act on all of us to acknowledge and respect all the sacrifices of Sikhs, and come out open against the Ghastly acts of 1984, and bring the Culprits to Justice. Else history and Next generation will not forgive us.

to Boby Mehta by G Singh on 25 Nov 2009

Boby Metha - shut your pie hole!. The Sikh Gurus were NOT Hindus, you cannot be born into a religion you have to adopt the haracteristics of the religion to be apart of it.

Shame on you boby by gsss on 24 Nov 2009

Kulmohan's point is very much valid. What has India done to the the menace of the state sponsered terrorism against its own people( Sikhs, Muslims and Christians). Mr. Boby, you seem to be on the lines of those Thackreys, Advanis. What do u mean that "Don't push your luck, Sikhs will end up like Muslims, most dispised"? Hindu terrorism had been and is the biggest menace india is facing simply bcoz nobody wants to acknowledge it. And Sikh Gurus were Hindus and are not Hindus, they rejected most the rituals of Hinduism. And so are Sikhs, they are NOT hindus.

Who will pay for the Hindu blood? by Madhwa on 24 Nov 2009

Kulmohan - or whoever you are - let me refresh your memory leading upto 1984. If you opened the news paper any day, one would read about the barbaric killing of Hindus - men, women and children - pulled out of buses and killed, butchered while asleep by the Sikh terrorists at the behest of pakistan. Do yo ustill want to paint your community(I am sure you an indian/paki moslem!) as saints? Who will avenge the murders of 1000s of poor Hindus? So convenient to talk of minorities being oppressed, right? Shame on creatures like you!

Best Forgotten by Natarajan on 23 Nov 2009

Some issues are best if they are forgotten. The 1984 riot is one such issue. because 1984 riot did not happen in isolation. It happened because both side wronged each other. The majority/Conress government should not have created Bindranwale or Op BlueStar. Sikhs/Akal taqt should not have let armed militants get sanctuary in a holy place. Let us forget the old wounds and look towards a better future.

you call us brothers...lol by sikhestknight on 24 Nov 2009

Shame on you Boby Mehta. Do you think that your Lord Ram and Lord Krishna or the Sikh Gurus care for your respect. PS a friendly piece of advise, dont you push your luck.

Never ever forget by BS on 24 Nov 2009

Never Ever Forget the History. Indians are in habits of brushing issues under the carpet. Bring the issue of 1984 out in open, face it, deal it, admit it and then act on it.

Truth by Singh on 24 Nov 2009

Boby Mehta, Kulmohan hasn't written or mentioned the word "Hindu" anywhere in his comments. If asking for justice may lead to Sikhs being "dispised" then so be it. We aren't afraid of or worried about Hindus being 'against' us. The Sikh Gurus were not and Sikhs are not Hindus. Your sympathy is not needed. Natarajan, You are trying to justify the murder of thousands of civilians and are trying to blame an entire religion for the butchery they suffered. Your philosophy parallels that of the Nazis. These old wounds will fester until justice is received. If your children and family were butchered we would see how quickly you would forget.

Shame on you guys by Bhujang on 24 Nov 2009

First of all Mr. Mehta you need to update your Knwlg. Sikh Gurus were not hindu.. sikhizm is a unique Kaum. If we want justice then you all saying to forget it. Human rights in india now i think its a biggest joke.. why dont we forget attack on parliment in this brutal attack even members of the security force, including a lady constable was killed for that Afzal got death sentence. thousands of innocent were killed in mass murder of sikhs and you guys sayin to forget it. shame on you guys

Deal with there supporters here by Indi on 23 Nov 2009

Dont put India in trouble by Indi on 23 Nov 2009

Marathi terrorists are more power india and our law can't handle them by Mona Sharma on 23 Nov 2009

Marathi terrorists are more powerful in india and our law can't handle them.

Letys think your way by LoveIndia_WhyKillMarathi on 24 Nov 2009

Ok, point noted, Marathi's are terrorist. What next ? I think, Marathi's are done with tons of sweat and blood for country, which has zero respect for Maharashtrian culture and Language. Everytime Marathi's are shown in bad light in Media and Movies and Everywhere... I am Marathi and I don't care what you brand me, I have respect my language and culture and I will fight for it when time comes. You are telling me manner of fight, Okay. And what studpid are you, to think by making marathi's terrorist, you will ruin future of Maharashtra only and India will have peace? It is not so easy, and it is always two ways. Mind your words. You ignorant rude brainless People.

Marathi terrorist? by Nilesh on 24 Nov 2009

How you dare to call entire community as terrorist? Mind it, I am indian and then marathi. I dont support any regionalism but i dont even agree with your view of naming few people as representative of Marathi community and terming all marathi's as terroritst.

Not terrorists !!! by Natarajan on 23 Nov 2009

Indian media is quick to jump and label Hindus as terrorist at the first hint of terrorism. You belong to that category. Maharashtrians are nice people. They have some genuine concerns and these issues have been latched on to by goondas like Thackaeray. Thats it, ...this is not terrorism.

Please Take Care by d v , Chandigarh on 23 Nov 2009

My Dear only "Thakare Ki Toli (TOKRI)", you can refer. Basically all Marathis are peace loving and respectable but these Thakre's are creating Hate. Harmful for Society.

Good point d v by Devasahayam on 24 Nov 2009

Thakeray was always a fool with a one-point agenda, that of using Marathas for his own selfish ends--same tactic coincidentally used by African-American "leaders" Jesse Jackson, Al Sharpton and Looie Farakhan.
