Arnav overpowers Tanuj in tie-breaker

Mumbai, February 27 Campion boy Arnav Kasbekar demonstrated his fighting qualities when it matter most to overpower Tanuj Rungta of St. Mary’s 6-5 (7-3) in the pre-quarterfinals of the boys under-12 singles of the MSSA Inter-School tennis tournament played at Garden Tennis Academy courts at Schools Sports Centre, Azad Maidan, here on Wednesday. In the same section, sixth seeded Anamitra Chakravorty, of Hasant, had to wait for the tie-breaker before he halted Vinal Raja’s progress with a 6-5 (8-6) win. In the boys under -10, there was no stopping three of the top four seeds. Arnav Parekh (Dhirubhai Ambani), Ryan Pandole (Cathedral), Aryan Goveas (Vibgyor) sailed into quarters without any hiccups. Missing was second seeded Dhir Gala, who conceded walkover and unseeded Vatsin Thaker of CNM was the beneficiary to make the last eight grade at the expense of Jay Poncha, of Bombay International.
