New Delhi He is among the top four leaders in the BJP whose counsel is sought by the party on issues ranging from political and legal to foreign policy. While he will not admit it, Arun Jaitley is also very much among the party’s prime ministerial contenders.

Suave and articulate, Jaitley, currently Leader of the Opposition in the Rajya Sabha, will be the guest tomorrow at Express Adda in Mumbai, in conversation with the cream of the city. It will be an informal, freewheeling interaction, which has come to characterise the Adda.

A series of conversations with people at the centre of change, Adda began on August 19 in Delhi with global marketing and ad guru Martin Sorrell, travelled to Mumbai in September to host superstar Shah Rukh Khan, and returned to Delhi in October for Pulitizer Prize winning New York Times columnist Thomas L Friedman. Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Omar Abdullah was also an Adda guest in Mumbai.

Credited with transforming the BJP into an effective opposition in Parliament, along with Sushma Swaraj, Jaitley is currently occupied with the coming assembly elections, particularly in Punjab, a state he originally hails from.

Jaitley’s astuteness as a political manager was earlier seen in Gujarat and Karnataka, where he successfully steered the BJP to victory in the last assembly elections.
