Almost a week after Singh visited Arunachal Pradesh and said the state was ‘our land of rising sun’, Chinese Foreign Ministry officials have conveyed to officials in the Indian Mission in Beijing that they were unhappy with the visit and his comments there.
Beijing feels that it was not appropriate for the Prime Minister to visit a state, major parts of which it claims are its territory.
In a sharp reaction, External Affairs Minister Pranab Mukherjee asserted that Arunachal Pradesh was part of India and the Prime Minister has right to visit any part of the country.
"Arunachal Pradesh is an integral part of our country. We are having regular representation in our Parliament elected by people of Arunachal Pradesh. Therefore, it is quite obvious that the Prime Minister will visit any part of the country," Mukherjee said in Mumbai.
Singh, during his maiden visit to Arunachal on January 31, had said that the state was ‘our land of rising sun’, in a clear message to China that it belongs to India.
The Chinese unhappiness comes more than a fortnight after Singh had a good visit to Beijing when the two countries agreed to expedite resolution of the boundary issue.
Chinese claim over Arunachal has been nagging the ties between the two countries for long. The issue gets flared up when the Chinese troops at regular intervals intrude into the Indian territory to demonstrate their claim on the land.
India has, however, been seeking to play down these incursions by arguing that these were a result of ‘differences in perception’.
The Special Representatives of the two countries are working out a solution as per the Political Parameters and Guiding Principles signed in 2005.

There is not doubt about that Arunachal belongs to India. It has 150 years of history behind. We should hit back at China in no uncertain terms that they should not interfere in India's internal affairs. This is not Taiwan an isolated island where China claims to be it's territory. Chins's colonialism is well known for centuries. It is time to show off our might. 1962 days are long gone and world has changed a lot today. Political equations are far more complicated this time. China must be curbed for it's land grabbing ambitions that too in a stern warning.

I know on the surface it doesn't sound logical or even rational... but I would really like India to make a clear statement of intent over the Aksai Chin issue. Start going on national television and making statements about Indian ownership of Aksai Chin. We can then start by growing some balls... and make incursions there! Amass the Indian army just like we did with Pakistan and show the Chinese this is not 1962 and we are not a young nation with a stupid prime minister (although this task will be difficult... especially with a pussy as the PM of India). But anyway, how about doing what Pakistan does best and gets away with it too... just tell the Chinese we will bomb the crap out of them (with nukes) if they make an erroneous move!! All they have been doing is developing their economy by keeping India unsteady so they can have an advantage over India in case of a war, skirmish, whatever you want to call it. Now that India is becoming increasingly competitive, they are getting nervous and returning to old tactics. This is good news for India. It means we have rattled their cage. Their soldiers are inept. They won the last time because our PM was a moron. This time atleast because of the pressure from media and the internet our pussy PM will have to pretend to be a man. At last a firm response from a Congress led government we can expect to act with courage - a secular one. had it been the fundamentalist regime in place they would have bent over backwards to please China - after all their courage only lies in bullying their own citizens with 'state patronage'. We must constantly encourage the Tibet cause to trouble China ,instead we have a spineless government which prevents its officials from attending Tibet functions organised in india.China has always played a double game and indulged in double speak.If they feel bad that the PM has visited AP after the China visit why did they choose to invade Vietnam when Vajpayee was visiting China ?Also they have made no effort to resolve and demarcate the border till date and have kept the issue festering.We must mantain a balanced posture in the East and mantain adeqauate force levels in East as well.Defence and development are the only sure ways of containing China. statements about Arunachal must be backed up by consistent foreign policy and not appeasement and servile/ wishful thinking.
If we let China to have its way, they would claim the whole of india as theirs. China has border disputes with all its neighbors because of their greed. They believe anyone with oriental eyes is a chinese. i'm sure Karats and Yechuris would now insist that India handover AP to China! Indian commies like Yechuri and Karat's shoud be kicked out off india and thrown into Beijing.
Cool! Let us take this a step further. How about taking Yechuri and Karat and strapping them with Parachutes (we are still a gentle people) and then asking the Air Force to make a quick sortie over China (Tibet would be appropriate) and dumping these idiots there? I think it will be cool. We will do two good things. We will rid India of two idiots and we will send two people, akin to termite into China. They will eat China from within. They have almost destroyed India with help from the Congress.
It seems that China is coming back to its old tactics which it had adopted during Jawahar Lal Nehru's time which led to military confrontation in 1962.India should be not only careful but strict while dealing with China.Now the situation is vastly different.India is much better prepared to deal with such situations.
