Ashok Malhotra gets bail in land scam case

New Delhi, March 19 The Delhi High Court today granted bail to prime accused in the multi-crore land scam Ashok Malhotra, who was arrested by the CBI last year.

Justice Rekha Sharma, while granting bail to Malhotra, directed him to surrender his passport to the CBI. The court has also asked Malhotra to furnish a personal bail bond of Rs one lakh and a surety of equal amount.

It also directed him to co-operate with the investigating agency and report to them on every alternate Monday.

Malhotra, was arrested on August 6 last year from a private news channel’s studio in Noida, for allegedly hatching a criminal conspiracy with five DDA and four MCD officials to fraudulently acquire plots meant for resettlement of slum dwellers between 2000 and 2002.

The other accused in the case are DDA Deputy Director Sumer Chand Garg, MCD Deputy Director S N S Sidhu, businessman Ashok Jain, canteen manager Ravinder Singh Sandhu, Philip Toppo and four others.
