Imphal A rifleman of the Assam Rifles allegedly opened indiscriminate fire killing a JCO and five other jawans in Manipur's Ukhrul district, leading to a massive manhunt to apprehend the accused.

The incident happened in the remote Awang Kasom Khullen area of the district around 5 pm yesterday when Rifleman T S Tangkhul of the 17th Assam Rifles, posted under Chingai police station, opened fire at his colleagues, killing the JCO and five other jawans, following a quarrel Tangkhul had with another rifleman over duty, police said on Thursday.

A manhunt has been launched to nab the accused, who hails from Nagaland. Tangkhul allegedly fled with his service rifle, they said.

The bodies of the six victims are being kept at the Chingai police station and arrangements are being made to bring them to the district headquarters of Ukhrul.

ISI Involved by Preetam on 23 Jan 2009

He was trained by ISI and was talking to his seniors in Pakistan while on a killing spree. The phone has been found which he used to talk to people in Pakistan. Also he left behind the pickle he was eating. Anyone's guess it was PAK product. I'm not surprised. Blame it across the border, prepare a case and run around to every corner of the world telling, what evil Pakistan is.
