Pune A day after a group of Army jawans clashed with police following an altercation over traffic violation, the Army on Wednesday said no case of indiscipline will be tolerated and strict action will be taken against those involved.

High drama was witnessed in a busy square last night when a traffic cop stopped two jawans of College of Military Engineering (CME) for entering a “no entry” zone.

Enraged over the traffic constable's action, a group of CME jawans allegedly vandalised a chowki in the Sambhaji bridge area and assaulted policemen including two women constables as well as some cameramen who tried to take pictures.

A Southern Command spokesman today said, “Authorities will not tolerate any case of indiscipline and strict action will be taken against those found involved.

“Normal procedure will be followed before taking any action in the matter,” he said.

Top officers of CME and military police had rushed to the spot last night to bring the situation under control after a hour long trouble at the arterial road that created tension in the area.
