Auction for liquor vends held in Punjab

Patiala, March 12 Auction for country-made and foreign liquor vends for the year 2008-09 was held under the supervision of Patiala Deputy Commissioner DS Grewal on Wednesday. Officials of the Punjab Excise and Taxation Department were also present on the occasion.

“We had received 3,244 applications and the administration has collected Rs 2.09 crore as non-refundable fee and the total collection was Rs 89.65 crore,” said Additional Commissioner Excise and Taxation Neel Kanth.

The vendors were divided into 129 groups to take out the draw for 372 vends out of which, 324 draws were for the country-made liquor and 148 for the foreign liquor vends.
