New Delhi The online auction of Bollywood star Salman Khan's towel on the online marketplace, eBay India, has attracted bids to the tune of Rs 1.42 lakh.

eBay India in association with television channel Star Plus has started a charity auction of celebrity memorabilia, the proceeds of which would be donated to 'Sneha'(Society for nutrition, education and health action), an NGO.

eBay India offers the memorabilia of those star guests who appear in the TV show 'Tere Mere Beach Mein', hosted by Bollywood personality Farah Khan, which airs on Star Plus.

The first auction in this series began last Sunday with Salman Khan-autographed towel on auction. The auction has attracted over 1,600 visitors from different countries, including India, an eBay official said.

The auction has attracted fans of Khan from across the world. The towel, which had the start-price of Rs 1,001, has got the highest bid of Rs 1.42 lakh from a Hong Kong fan. The auction is still open and would close on August 30.

"Bollywood fans worldwide will enjoy the experience of bidding and winning the unique personal and movie memorabilia donated by the celebrity guests as well as benefiting a good cause," eBay India Senior Manager (Pop Culture) Deepa Thomas said.

The buyer must be more sick than Salman by Hsu Yen on 28 Aug 2009

The buyer must be more sick than Salman (though that is hard to believe). Indian from HK. Probably this sicko bought it himself pretending it was someone from HK. I don't believe any HK resident, whether Indian or Chinese, could do somehting so shameless.

This would be news if you also report who the sicko is who bought the stuff. by Poorvaja Rudraksha on 28 Aug 2009

Ha! by Teena on 28 Aug 2009

Rather than worshipping our saints like Sant Tukaram and Sant Dynaneshwar, its a pity that people look up to movie stars who do not have any capability to guide people.
