Sydney, February 27: Harbhajan Singh reckons that Matthew Hayden's stinging verbal attack at him stems from the frustration of realising that the Australians were ‘no longer the undisputed champions’ and that India was the only team giving them a run for their money.

"Maybe, they realise that they no longer are the undisputed champions of the world. Maybe, they feel the crown is slipping. Otherwise, why a cricket veteran would ask a 19-year-old (Ishant Sharma) to join him in a ring?," he said in reaction to the latest provocation by Hayden.

Hayden called Harbhajan an ‘obnoxious little weed’ and invited Ishant Sharma ‘into a ring’ to sort out issues in an interview to 'Brisbane Radio' on Tuesday.

He also had a frontal attack on Harbhajan saying, that "his record speaks for itself in cricket, that's why he has been charged more than anyone else who's ever played in the history of cricket."

Harbhajan, who seemed to have read the personal attack by Hayden in entirety, said he preferred to keep himself in control instead of enjoining the matter with the belligerent Aussie opener.

"I don't want it to be a slanging match," Harbhajan said adding that he didn't want to open a pandora's box for a lot that the Australians have said this summer would then come tumbling out.

"But you only need to speak to international cricketers and international teams to know in what opinion they hold Hayden," he said looking at the broadside as just ‘one more instance of what our hosts have been up to all this summer’.

The visiting Indian team feel all along they have been ‘provoked’ by the Australians and a written complaint with the match referee Jeff Crowe after the Sydney game earlier this week was in response to it.

Harbhajan was also surprised at the Australian opener's statement which said that Indians were complaining ‘because they are losing every game they are playing’.

"Really, you think so? I would have thought we are the only ones who have got the Australians on the run this summer," he said.

Cricket Australia (CA) held an emergency meeting in Melbourne on Wednesday morning to discuss if Hayden had breached rules as the board has the authority to stop its contracted player from commenting on television, radio or print if it feels that it is not in good taste about an opposition players or board.

The word from CA on its meeting though is awaited.

Besides Hayden getting embroiled with Harbhajan and Ishant, there was another specific incident of Ricky Ponting having a go at Harbhajan during the game between the two teams in Adelaide on February 17.

Apparently, Ponting kept having a go at Harbhajan in Adelaide, asking him ‘to show what he had got’ in the middle.

Harbhajan, on his part, had then cheekily remarked: "Mate, whatever I have shown in the middle has been better than yours' in the series so far."

It appeared to have stung the Australian captain who asked Harbhajan to ‘f... off’ after the latter was dismissed.

A departing Harbhajan, on hearing so, stopped and turned round only to see Ponting disappear among celebrating Aussies.

"They do it so well," Harbhajan said grudgingly ‘they keep the back to you when they have something nasty to say to the opponent’.

the little wild weed is not great as projected by media

Hayden is a Wank stain! by anand kumar on 28 Feb 2008

Off course, Australians are in terminal decline. Look at the current Under 19 World Cup. Where are they? They Lost long before the semi-finals. Check the current India -australia series. If not for the cheated Sydney test, India would have won the series. They are shit scared of mighty Indians.Haye den - the 'dinkum' aussie with a face like dropped pie is the most hated cricketer of our time. He's a lousy bastard. He is a Wank stain! He is enough to give diarrhoea the shits! Obviously, australians don't play cricket. They just want organised loafing! One who Couldn't hit a cow in the tit with a tin can is talking about a world class spinner like Harbhajan.

SHITSnPENTS by sandeep on 28 Feb 2008

The only thing which Australian can do now is to SHIT in their PENTS.

pents? by waxer on 28 Feb 2008

what is a "pents"? Whatever it is Aussies only "shit" as you so elequently put it, in toilets, something I hear is in short supply over there.

Aussie use hole in the ground to shit by anand kumar on 28 Feb 2008

Well the Toilets are found in the civilized world like India not in Australia. Dunnies, the little dirty shit pots you deserve. Oh, pull your lip over your head and swallow! You Couldn't tell your ass from a hole in the ground.

Cross between pants and tents by Jon on 28 Feb 2008

Yes Australia are petrified of the mediocre Indian Cricket team and the spelling of their cricket supporters. I guess you are writing in code- roughly translated- "The ony thing the Australian Cricket team can do when in India is 'shit in their pants' as there are no toilets here in India". Good point Sandeep, they're sure to keep that in mind and pack appropriately when touring there.

slipping? by waxer on 28 Feb 2008

Hey, Harbhajan, you win two matches against the world champs in a whole summer and suddenly you think you are as good as the Aussies? If you beat us in the finals, then I may agree, until then, you are being very premature with your assesment of your "closeness" to Australian standard. Also, it takes more than one series win of any sort to be world champs. If you do happen to win the finals, you will have to back it up with wins against all other countries as Australia has done. Do you think England were world champs with one ashes win a few years back? They got pummelled by everyone after that. Come back in a couple of years with series wins against all the other test nations as well as Australia and only then will it be undisputable if the Aussie crown is slipping. Also, by then out of the 980 million more people than us you have, surely you can unearth more talented players than Harbhajan the mouth.

Cricket for Fun by SKannath on 27 Feb 2008

Haydens words has to be overlooked. In tennis John McEnroe use to do this but it did not affect tennis great like Ivan Lendl, he was not perturbed, was always cool. Indians should learn to react appropriately and overlook such incidence, its part of modern sports.

Bad bad coolie. by Sanjay on 28 Feb 2008

Very foolish attitude. They abuse you it is okay, but we abuse them we get fined, suspended, accuse of racism. Now why do we get the abuse, and they the pampering. It shows your sick mind.

SICK OF IT ALL by Cricket Lover on 27 Feb 2008

Hey India, Im an australian cricket lover and like you, I am sick of whats going on with cricket latly. Lets face it, Australia is the best team in the world, no doubt, but a country with academies armed with the latest technologies and millions of dollars a year should produce this calibour of player. Dont get me wrong, I love watching india play and they are a clear standout from other sides in the world how they can push the ozzies to their limit to win. For the sake of the game we all love, let it go, do whatever it takes on the field(but not racism) and have a drink and a laugh togetther off the field. That goes for us supporters on both sides, we can have fun giving each other some cheek, but after the game, shake hands, talk and laugh with each other. I have a 2yo son, and I would love nothing more than to travel to india with him to enjoy your culture, and watch both our teams do battle on the field but more importantly let my son see diferent aspects that both our countries have. By the way, yes I do have convict heriatge that dates back 200 years, but I should not be judged on that but should be judged on the person I am and the values I teach my son...All the best and just think about what I said...bedaba1@bigpond.net.au

hiya by vishal on 27 Feb 2008

You rock. I respect your opinion and apologize to you on behalf of some of the folks here making stupid ass remarks. I am sure majority of Australians are as level headed and decent as majority of Indians and the hot heads on both sides need to find something better to do than mouth off on internet.

Another a@@ licker of the whites by eddie on 28 Feb 2008

Dear Vishal, You suck ! You mirror sentiments from the BCCI and their fetish for whites, so you are no different. You are an apology of an Indian and there is no need to apologise for our remarks. If you do not wish to mouth off on the internet you have no moral right to be on it. Being level headed is not being yellow and not standing up for your views.

eddie the racist by waxer on 28 Feb 2008

Eddie, go get some councelling, your hatred for white people is consuming you. Racism is an unpleasant thing to have in ones character.

Eddie...time for cookies and milk by Al on 28 Feb 2008

Eddie...I think Vishal has just as much right as you have to say his mind. It's people like you trying to harrass others into your bigoted point of view that makes the internet such a great place to express ones beliefs, whatever they may be. Well done Vishal...Eddie I can hear your mum calling you home to do your homework.

You are right and you are wrong by eddie on 27 Feb 2008

Your ideas and thoughts about off the field behaviour especially between fans are right. But your thoughts about australia being the best team in the world is wrong - that is certainly in question now that India with a substandard side is bearing down on you. Wishful thinking is more like it. Remember mate there is a final before us and can you put your hand on your heart and say that Australia will win ? If there was one team who would give diehard ozzie fans a sleepless night it is India. If that is truly the case then you are jumping the gun ! The old world pecking order in cricket is in doubt and the response from Symmo and Haydo is a case in point. That Haydo the close cousin of Symmo should be threatened by the new kid on the block Sharma proves my point. Ring ? what ring is he talking about ? Let the ball and bat do the talking - that is cricket as far as I understand and love the game. What a pity we Indians do not think it fit to name a range of underwear after Haydo, but someone in India can perhaps think of a range of sanitary napkins instead. You in Australia will not be judged on your convict heritage but on what kind of moral disintegration you have got yourselves mired in.

Welcome to India. by NAT on 28 Feb 2008

I fully agree with you Eddie.Just want to add that, if the Aussies are the best Criketers in the world. How come Hayden wants to challange a baby in the boxing ring. He should try challanging someone like me for instance. Big bully.I want to tell the Aussie that he and his son are most welcome to India, as he will see for himself how hospitable we are. Have had the pleasure of hosting more than a dozen foreigners, including Aussies.

Good To Hear by Vida on 27 Feb 2008

What a pleasure to read this point of view. I do agree that we as fans should be able to get on, and hope that you and your boy do come to India and I would like to meet you and shake your hand. With these values you are teaching your son, he will grow to be a good man like you

It sounds like there are too many women criket fans by Sanjay on 28 Feb 2008

But when we play you the only thing on our mind will be beating the hell out of Austrailia, because India is the best. These people are they lack the competive spirit.

matchfixing by bcci by cricketlover on 27 Feb 2008

have some self-respect. by prakash on 27 Feb 2008

looks like there are some postings from people like ravi (TALK) who are used to getting spat on and insulted at will. have some self-respect.

performance counts! by ravi on 27 Feb 2008

IF YOU WIN - You will GET RESPECT! I do not condone Aussie behavior. But, let's stop complaining and START WINNING! PERFORMANCE is what counts! if you play like sissies - people are bound to push you around. Play like champions - and they will have keep shut! There is nothing about - we like to get insulted - as you refer to! WE ARE BEYOND THAT DUDE!

little big mouths by prakash on 27 Feb 2008

this big gum muching foul-mouthed pig and the little prick ponting think they can get away with anything thanks to the gutless and shameless parasites like pawar and niranjan shah who do nothing. bravo, keep gulping more insults team india - you get what your board deserves.

India needs to win by Megh on 27 Feb 2008

We need to win atleast the finals... otherwise what indian team does is just rhetoric - all noise....no shi*

bhajji by naresh on 27 Feb 2008

World cricket knows as what Australians are. Moral and game ethics do not exist in their disctionary. The best way to reply them is to give them a powerful blow in the field showing best of Indian prperformace in games to come.

TALK by ravi on 27 Feb 2008

harbhajan has a BIG MOUTH and a SMALL BRAIN! SHUT UP! we are getting beaten by the aussies in every game and he thinks their crown is slipping! WAKE UP Mr. Bhaji and smell the roses!

Headen remarks by vijay on 27 Feb 2008

Well done Bhajji by answering "Everyone knows who are the bad boys". When you are playing cricket, you are representing your country at highest level. Your behaviour on field

CB SERIES by NIRMAL KUMAR on 27 Feb 2008

Team India has experienced contoversies throughout the series.Ausies are the hosts and behaviour of the 3 times world champions does not look good. They should have been the model to everyone. It is not the matter to win the tropies alone.Entire world noticed during their playing behaviour.Istead becoming popular Austrailians players denounced their moral, and mostly every country experienced the taste of their criket. We only suggest our young criketers to keep cool and play not for pride, but pride of our nation.

Ausie cricket by Megh on 27 Feb 2008

The only way to give the right treatment to the Kangaroos is in our back-yard... treat them with the dignity they so royally deserve. They need to be shown their place in the international arena. These jokers are just too upset that the " Crciket" has slipped away from the white hands and now they are at the mercy of non whites to be of any significance... aussies dont like it.

Hayden the low life and Magnanimous Harbhajjan by Sridhar on 27 Feb 2008

I think Bhajji's response has been cool composed, gentlemanly and correct. He has shown magnanimity in not stooping to Hayden's level. The reason the Aussies are ganging up against Bhajji is because he single handedly destroyed them in the Calcutta test. The same destruction might be haunting them anmd accounts for their reaction to the upcoming Ishant Sharma. They want to disturb , disbale and destroy him by attacking him verbally. Good luck Indian players and hell to all those who write against the Indians in these columns.

New Cricket by Jacob Mathew on 27 Feb 2008

I strongly suggest tha the great India-Australia final should be a 60 over match.50 over for the game and 10 overs for sledging. If it is approved the patent and credit comes to me.Cricket would be more entertaining and more interesting news to read.Iam sure Australia would be the champions in this game.Jacob MathewAuckland

Let him come to India by VVH on 27 Feb 2008

Don't worry Bhajji. Let that "FAT DUCK" come to India. We will make sure it stops Qwaking for ever.He is definitely a dirty mind and immensely stupid too.

Don't worry Bhaji by John on 27 Feb 2008

Bhaji, this is nothing but their normal arrogance. Most Aussie players are uneducated and indecent. These corrupt crooks wont survive too long!
